About the Opportunity 

Under broad direction, the Executive Officer provides high level operational and executive support to the Director of Office of the Vice Chancellor and Government Relations and coordinates all activities associated with the government relations portfolio.  

The Executive Officer undertakes high level project work, developing strategy, briefing and position papers with respect to issues associated with government relations. This position provides first line advisory services to internal departments or external agencies seeking information from the Office.  This position is also required to provide support in policy drafting, revision and evaluation. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide high level executive and administrative support to the Director, Office of the Vice Chancellor and Government Relations, including coordination of actions arising from key decisions.  

  • Research, analyse and prepare briefs, correspondence, presentations, reports, and strategy or policy papers for senior executives and internal and external stakeholders.  

  • Manage complex and sensitive matters on behalf of the Director, exercising sound judgement and discretion.  

  • Lead coordination and project management of special initiatives, projects and events.  

  • Build and maintain effective relationships and networks across the University and with government, industry and community stakeholders.  

  • Provide subject matter expertise and policy advice across a range of portfolio activities.  

  • Undertake additional responsibilities aligned with the seniority and objectives of the role as required. 

About you 

  • The occupant of the position will hold postgraduate qualification or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

This is a part time (2 days per week) fixed term opportunity until 27/01/2027 based at Brisbane South (Nathan) Campus. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations

Salary Range 
 
HEW 8 Salary – FTE base salary range - $113,713.03 - $127,923.91 per annum + 17% super. Pro-rata base salary - $45,485.21 - $51,169.57 + 17% super.
