Job Description
General Practice and Primary Health Care is a core discipline in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. As part of our commitment to shaping the future health workforce, we are seeking a highly skilled academic and clinician to join our academic team for the role of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Clinical Education (General Practice and Primary Health Care).
Lecturer (Level B) - The Lecturer in Clinical Education (General Practice and Primary Health Care) is expected to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the discipline of medicine. This position will provide high quality teaching, assessment and curriculum development, and engage in scholarly research, with a particular focus on General Practice and Primary Care.
Senior Lecturer (Level C) - The Senior Lecturer in Clinical Education (General Practice and Primary Health Care) is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching efforts of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, in particular, relating to the medical program. This position will play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. A Senior Lecturer is expected to make independent and original contributions to scholarship research which have impact on the field of expertise.
The role forms part of an academic team that oversees the learning and assessment of medical students and contributes to the development and delivery of relevant aspects of the curriculum in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program that relate primarily to general practice and primary care. This position offers a unique opportunity for a clinically qualified academic or General Practitioner to establish a career in medical education.
This is a part-time (0.5FTE), continuing position based at the Gold Coast campus of Griffith University.
While the position is primarily based at the Gold Coast, Griffith is a multi-campus institution and as such there may be an infrequent requirement for the successful candidate to travel to other sites/campuses where the medical program is delivered.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Lecturer (Level B) range $113,226 - $134,460 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $132,474 - $157,318 per annum.
The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Senior Lecturer (Level C) range $138,702 - $159,936 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $162,281 - $187,125 per annum.
Qualifications
We are seeking applications from candidates who:
- Hold a medical degree and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (or comparable equivalent accreditation and standing).
- Are eligible for registration as a specialist general practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Have significant clinical experience in general practice, with commitment to maintaining discipline knowledge and professional development.
- Possess experience in medical education, including teaching and curriculum development.
- Demonstrate highly developed communication skills and teamwork skills, including ability to achieve work targets through collaboration.
Candidates seeking to apply for the Senior Lecturer (Level C) will be expected to hold a doctoral qualification or evidence of progress towards completion of a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing in addition to the qualifications and expertise outlined above.
The level of appointment will be dependant upon the education, clinical and professional qualifications of the preferred candidate.
