Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our Gold Coast University Campus. This pivotal role ensures the smooth functioning of the built environment, grounds, and essential services, including but not limited to, cleaning, building maintenance, landscaping, fire safety, waste disposal, hygiene, pest control, space utilisation, and other specialist services.
As Facilities Manager, you will lead the transition of newly built and refurbished projects into operational readiness, ensuring seamless integration into day to day campus life. You will be responsible for the end to end operational management of all facilities-related contracts and service providers, maintaining high standards of performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and review of campus facilities plans, policies, and procedures.
- Lead and manage facilities staff and contractors to ensure high-quality service delivery aligned with strategic frameworks.
- Use data and metrics to drive improvements in maintenance, cleaning standards, and asset performance.
- Support operational and capital planning in collaboration with the Asset Manager.
- Provide input into new builds and refurbishments across all project phases.
- Manage budgets and oversee administration of facilities operations.
- Coordinate campus shutdowns, access, and safety during construction works.
- Lead emergency response and business recovery efforts.
- Champion continuous improvement and cross-campus collaboration.
- Ensure contractor compliance with policies, contracts, and quality standards.
About you
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years’ experience in facilities management, with strong leadership capabilities.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and written abilities, including report writing.
- Proven experience in budget and contract management across hard and soft services.
- Project management experience in the construction industry.
- Membership with a recognised professional body is desirable.
Candidates must have full unrestricted Australian work rights and may be subject to a National criminal history check.
What we can offer
This is a continuing opportunity based at Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.
HEW 10 Salary – Base - $142,222.18 + 17% super. Full package - $166,399.96.
