Job Description
Are you passionate about supporting research and facilitating outcomes? We are seeking a highly organised and analytical person to learn the role of Research Grants Officer in our team. You will empower researchers to achieve grant success and facilitate the administration of successful awards.
In this diverse role you will liaise with funding bodies and colleagues across Griffith, providing expert advice and coordinating processes and activities that maximise Griffith's grant success.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire grant lifecycle, from identifying funding opportunities to post-award administration. The role will be commencing with our Pre-Award team. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Liaise with funding bodies, researchers, and internal stakeholders throughout the grant lifecycle.
- Provide guidance and support to researchers on grant-related policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide expert advice on the preparation of grant proposals, to ensure compliance with funder requirements and institutional policies.
- Organise and deliver research funding seminars/workshops for specified schemes or projects.
- Develop processes and quality assurance mechanisms to optimise outcomes for the University from participation in grant application rounds including developing checklists based on scheme guidelines, drafting EOI calls, and preparing information or resources to support researchers and assist research grants officers.
- Manage the post-award administration and reporting obligations of the University’s successful grants, including end of year reporting to the ARC.
- Provide advice on contractual documentation presented to the University and recommend responses to the same.
- Analyse and report on grant funding trends and success rates to inform strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and partner research organisations to ensure smooth grant management and compliance with regulations.
About you
The successful candidate will hold relevant tertiary qualifications or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training or experience in higher education, research, industry or government. You will be a highly analytical and organised person with a strong focus on customer-service.
You will also have:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with an ability to work under broad direction, as well as cohesively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
- Exceptional project management and organisational skills that enable you to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to quickly adapt to new software.
Knowledge of the research funding landscape and the Australian research environment will be highly regarded.
What we can offer
This is a continuing, full-time position based at either Griffith University Gold Coast or Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site university, you will may at times be required to work across other locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full-time base salary for a HEW Level 7 is in the range $101,068 - $109,496 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $118,249 - $128,110 per annum.
