Job Description
The Griffith School of Engineering and Built Environment (EBE) offers a broad range of engineering programs and has an active research culture which has helped foster strong links with high schools and community groups plus key industries on a local, national and global level
The School is currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic, team oriented, flexible, and highly organised person to the role of Senior Technical Officer.
The Senior Technical Officer provides technical and scientific support to students and staff in the setup and design of equipment and apparatus. This non-teaching role reports to the School Manager and will be required to direct, lead, and manage the School of Engineering and Built Environment's daily technical operations at the Gold Coast campus. This involves managing technical services that support teaching and research in the areas of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial Design, Planning Architecture, and Construction Management.

You will also have:
- A degree in a relevant engineering field (Civil, Mechanical, Electronic or Electrical), with at least four years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management experience in technical fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a multidisciplinary technical support team, good analytical, problem solving, planning skills, team building skills and the ability to effectively manage operational change.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical space and equipment resources.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver specialist technical support in one or more of the following disciplines: Civil, Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical or relevant sub discipline.
- Competency in engineering control software applications, and design development of equipment using Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- An open unrestricted driver’s license, Senior First Aid certificate, overhead crane license, dogger’s license and forklift license.
What we can offer
This is a fixed term (3 years), full time position primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast, and it is expected that the successful candidate will be available to attend campus in person as a normal requirement of the role. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.
Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 7 range $101,068 - $109,496 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $118,249 - $128,110 per annum.
