Job Description

The School of Education and Professional Studies (EPS) is a national leader in undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programs and education research.  EPS is one of the largest Schools in Griffith University, offering a diverse range of degree programs for more than 3000 undergraduate students.  Our degrees cover early childhood, primary, and secondary teacher education; studies in autism, inclusive and special education; and postgraduate programs in education and education research.  EPS spans three campuses – Nathan, Logan and the Gold Coast – and has strong online offerings. With an international reputation in teacher education and related research, students are drawn to our programs from many different countries.

The School is seeking experienced Lecturers (Level B) to support high-quality teaching and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, and/or professional activities related to initial teacher education.

These teaching focused positions will commence in Trimester 1, 2025 and require the occupant to perform full academic responsibilities and related administration for the coordination of courses and programs.

Applicants are invited to express their preference for a position at either 0.4FTE, 0.6FTE, 0.8FTE, or 1FTE. On campus, face-to-face teaching is required and the work patterns for part-time positions are expected to reflect the teaching requirements of the role. These may vary from trimester to trimester. 

Teaching focused Lecturers are principally engaged with a maximum 70% teaching profile with the remaining work allocation assigned to research/scholarship and service. 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Fostering an outstanding student experience and encouraging active participation and engagement in learning and teaching across the spectrum of the University’s undergraduate, and postgraduate program suite facilitating high quality, student-centred learning activities.
  • Supporting high quality learning and teaching outcomes for students evidenced by technology enhanced learning, problem oriented, authentic learning and assessment practices.
  • Improving teaching practice through professional development and critical reflection informed by a range of evaluation approaches.
  • Providing educational contributions through responsibility for academic courses, including undertaking responsibilities aligned with the role of course convenor.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of the School’s standing and reputation by promoting educational activities with external communities.

These are continuing positions offered at a minimum of 0.4FTE and may be based at either the Griffith University Gold Coast, Nathan or Logan campuses. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. 

Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples. 

Salary Range

The full-time equivalent base salary for a Lecturer (Level B) is in the range $110,464 - $131,180 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $129,243 - $153,481 per annum.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold:

  • A doctoral or masters qualification or
  • Equivalent accreditation and standing with 6+ years of experience and/or
  • Significant progress towards completion of a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or field.

You will also have:

  • Expertise in teaching and teacher education in at least one of the following: early childhood, primary or secondary school contexts (junior curriculum and/or senior curriculum)
  • Expertise in curriculum areas including (but not limited to) special education, HASS, Maths, Science, Music, Arts and professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality teaching and to engage students effectively
  • Proven ability to develop and implement innovative curriculum and teaching materials
  • Demonstrated experience in providing academic support and mentoring to students
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and engagement in scholarly activities relevant to teaching
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to interdisciplinary projects
  • A commitment to inclusive education and equity
  • Teacher registration
