Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a joint appointment for either an Associate Professor (level D) or a Professor (Level E) of Midwifery within the School of Nursing and Midwifery in conjunction with Gold Coast Health. The Associate Professor/ Professor of Midwifery will provide the necessary leadership in the critical examination of current trends and evidence-based practices in midwifery, and the related implications for research, education and practice.

To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated and extensive commitment to midwifery. In addition, the successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • A Doctoral qualification in midwifery (or related area) and have demonstrated expertise in contemporary midwifery education, research and practice. 
  • Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered midwife or have the ability to apply and obtain.
  • You will have a passion for collaborative research with the ability to develop productive and innovative links between clinicians, academics, and research students.
  • Possess an outstanding track record of attracting research competitive funds and research dissemination.

This is a 5 year fixed-term, full-time position working across our vibrant world class facilities co-located at the Gold Coast. The role is primarily split between Griffith University (50%) and Gold Coast University Hospital (50%). It is expected that the successful candidate will be available to attend both sites in person as a normal requirement of the role.

Salary Range
The base salary for an Associate Professor (Level D) is $159,740- $175,985 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total package is in the range $186,895 - $205,902.

The base salary for a Professor (Level E) is $205,768 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total package is in the range $240,748.

Further to this salary package the University and Hospital are willing to support the right candidate with a range of additional benefits including:
