Griffith Sciences is one of the four academic groups of the University and has an international reputation for excellence in learning and teaching, research and professional practice. The Group hosts three schools - Engineering and Built Environment, Information and Communication Technology and Environment and Sciences along with five research institutes and three centres.
The School of Engineering and Built Environment at Griffith University is a dynamic and innovative institution that plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our built environment. The Head of Discipline in Architecture, Planning, and Design is multifaceted and carries several key expectations. We are looking for a robust and forward-thinking leader who can inspire faculty, staff, and students to achieve excellence in education, research, and practice within the field. The Discipline head will be dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and innovative environment that prepares students for success in a rapidly evolving professional landscape.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Contribute to the development of academic program plans within the discipline and assist in implementing the School's learning and teaching strategy.
- Provide strategic leadership and supervision to discipline members in areas such as program development, research, and engagement with government, industry, and the community.
- Effectively manage staff and resources to achieve high-quality outcomes aligned with the University's strategic plans, policies, and other relevant parameters.
- Ensure that professional development activities and performance reviews are conducted in a timely manner to enhance staff performance and development.
- Oversee standards within the discipline and preserve disciplinary integrity in collaboration with the Head of School (HoS).
- Monitor the performance of programs and courses, implement quality assurance processes, and promote the discipline and its programs both internally and externally, fostering effective relationships with researchers, industry partners, and external communities.
What we can offer
This is a full-time Head of Discipline role (fixed term, 5 years) associated with a continuing academic position, based at the Gold Coast campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.
The full time equivalent base salary will be Senior Lecturer (Level C) range $128,802 - $148,520 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $150,698 - $173,768 per annum.
The full time equivalent base salary will be Associate Professor (Level D) range $155,087 - $170,859 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $181,452 - $199,905 per annum.
Qualifications
The occupant will hold relevant tertiary qualifications up to doctoral level or equivalent accreditation and standing along with proven extensive experience in research, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, program and course development and coordination.
