Job Description
Griffith Library is committed to delivering excellent services and resources to meet the research and learning and teaching needs of the University’s students and academic staff. Griffith Library operates six campus libraries across five campus locations.
You will provide strategic leadership to a range of library and professional staff in the development and delivery of innovative and customer–focused digital library infrastructure, research content and repository services, and archives.
This position reports to the University Librarian and is part of the Library Management Team. The position has responsibility for three service teams:
- The Digital Library team manages the critical digital library infrastructure that underpins the delivery of library collections and services to the Griffith community. The team is also responsible for the Library’s website and ensuring that all digital library solutions and services provide a high-quality user experience;
- The Research Content and Repositories team manages repository platforms, undertakes activities that improve access to the University’s traditional and non-traditional research outputs, and contributes to integrated and consistent approaches to research information management across the University;
- Griffith Archive preserves and promotes the history of the University, with a strong focus on digital engagement.
What we offer
This is a continuing, full-time position based at the Nathan campus and it is expected that the successful candidate will be available to work across all Griffith campuses in person as a normal requirement of the role.
The full-time base salary is HEW Level 10 $132,070 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total package will be $154,522 per annum.

You will:
- provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of customer–focused digital library services.
- collaborate to adopt innovative practices to drive new ways of working to ensure consistent, comprehensive and scalable end-to-end delivery of library services.
- be proactive in building and strengthening productive partnerships and an excellent communicator with demonstrated strong client support and problem-solving skills.
Key experience and attributes
You will:
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding of emerging issues in user experience, service design and delivery, technology in higher education, archives and the management of information and data in higher education.
- have a track record of successful collaboration with IT teams and vendors.
- demonstrate an evidence-based and user-centric approach to service design and delivery.
- use highly developed leadership and people management skills, including high level influencing and negotiation skills, project management, financial management (including contracts, procurement and vendor relations), recruitment and selection, strategic and operational planning, and change management.
- demonstrate highly developed written and verbal communication skills including development of business cases, project documentation, preparation of reports and discussion papers, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
- hold or be eligible for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
