The Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics offers industry-recognised undergraduate and postgraduate programs in accounting, banking, business statistics, economics, finance, financial planning, taxation and financial crime. We have a strong and active research focus, with several staff holding external research grants and a history of successful PhD student completions with attractive employment outcomes.

The newly established Griffith Academy of Financial Crime Investigations and Compliance (FCIC) sits within the Griffith Business School. Together with its industry partners, the Academy delivers innovative and interdisciplinary research and training in investigating and preventing financial crime to meet critical industry needs across the financial sector.

The Opportunity
The Department of Accounting Finance and Economics is currently looking for a Senior Lecturer who can:

  • Undertake a sustained level of high-quality research into Behavioural Economics of national standing with measurable impact on policy and practice for the wider community, and attract and generate nationally competitive research funding.
  • Work cohesively as part of an interdisciplinary team within the Academy that features experts from criminology, information and communication technology and forensic accounting that fosters inter-disciplinary collaborations across the University.
  • Foster an outstanding student experience and encourage active participation and engagement in learning and teaching across the spectrum of the University’s undergraduate, postgraduate and professional program suite facilitating high-quality, student-centred learning activities consistent with Griffith Graduates of the Future strategy.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of micro-credentials for industry partners that are application-based studies in the area of financial crime investigation and compliance.
  • Develop meaningful and impactful partnerships with the broader community by actively engaging and collaborating with external stakeholders at national and international levels.
  • Ensuring consistently high-quality experiences and outcomes for Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates.
  • Promote the reputation of the University through engaged scholarship and purposeful, impactful industry and community outreach activities.

About you
To succeed in this role, you will have a PhD qualification in a relevant discipline or field, along with the following:

  • A passion and an outstanding reputation for conducting research in Behavioural Economics that has influenced and impacted policy and decision-making.
  • A track record in studying Financial Scam and Fraud in either experimental or field settings is highly desired.
  • A strong track record of publications in economics journals and evidence of teaching excellence with undergraduate and higher degree research students.
  • A strong record of securing funding and collaboration with industry partners and a track record of global collaboration and reputation with particular strategic value through Asia.
  • Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary research environment to achieve outstanding research with an impact on policy and practice.
  • Knowledge, skills and leadership in teaching and curriculum/program development at the tertiary education level, and a proven ability in the administration of university courses and programs.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach across a breadth of courses within the Department. In addition to fulfilling teaching requirements, the candidate must demonstrate success in attracting significant external research funding, evidence of a competitive research track record and national recognition consistent with discipline benchmarks, and proven experience in developing partnerships and collaborations with leading institutions and research end-users in their field.

What we can offer
This is a continuing, full time position based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

The full time equivalent base salary for Senior Lecturer, Level C will be $128,802 - $148,520 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $150,698 - $173,768 per annum.
