The Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ) focuses on allied health research, building on its strength of interdisciplinary approaches underpinned by outstanding biomedical and social research. Developing healthy communities through research and research translation is a key priority and this is supported by strong links with community and health organisations.

MHIQ Infection and Immunity researchers focus on the role of the immune system and inflammation in health and a range of disease states. We focus on both fundamental biology and clinical translation that will lead to new tools and novel treatments.

Job Description

The postdoctoral fellow will play a key role in contributing to research projects led by members of the Menzies Health Institute Queensland, Infection and Immunity stream, with a focus on mucosal immune mechanisms and diseases, particularly in relation to type 2 inflammation and associated conditions. The projects will utilise advanced spatial transcriptomic approaches and bioinformatic methods to explore the role of immune and inflammatory signalling in a range of disease states.

We seek highly motivated candidates who can contribute to this research and actively support the growing research profile of the group through collaborative partnerships in academic and industry sectors and a commitment to the dissemination of research outcomes.

What we can offer
This is a fixed term (until 31 Dec 2024), full time position and is primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

The full time equivalent base salary will be Research Fellow Level 1 (RF1) range $82,359 - $96,473 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $96,360 - $112,873 per annum.

Qualifications

The successful candidates will hold a PhD or equivalent qualifications/work experience in the field Biomedical Science with a research background in immunology or molecular biology.

The applicant should have strong laboratory skills including in immunoassay, gene expression and spatial transcriptomic methods. Evidence of a developing publication record, contributions to collaborative research projects, and experience in analysis of large data sets is sought. A commitment to participate in research grant submissions, work as a member of a team, and support students and junior staff members are expected.
