Description

The position of Tech Assistant is responsible for assisting clinicalstaff with patient flow and preparing patients for their examinations orprocedures. This position requires documentation of patient’s treatment throughdata entry and report retrieval. A Tech Assistant must be able to communicateclearly and effectively with all patient populations as well as display empathytowards patients. This position requires patient services duties such asregistering patients for their exams, verifying their exam orders, collectinghistory, coordinating care with other departments and escorting them to thedepartment while providing exam or procedure instructions.

Dutiesand Responsibilities

Facilitatethe patient experience by greeting patients, verifying patient’s identity,assisting those with special needs and ensuring physical and emotional comfort.Utilize AIDET Principles in all patient and provider encounters.

2.     Coordinatepatient flow by scheduling appointments and procedures and preparing paperworkfor technologists and radiologists.

3.     Conductenvironmental and safety procedures including cleaning and sterilizing the examroom and equipment. Evaluate and maintain supply levels and practice safepatient maneuvers.

4.     Documentthe patient’s exam through data entry, report retrieval, scanning and recordingthe exam details in the electronic medical record system. 

5.     Demonstrateproficiency in performing specialized procedures. Coordinate patient care withother modalities as scheduled.

6.     Assistclinical staff with procedures by preparing medical instruments and biologicalspecimens for the lab, providing post-procedure care and instructions,retrieving patient history, consent and vital signs as required. 

      Maintainprofessional and technical knowledge through educational workshops,professional publications and societies.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Experience: 1 to 3 years comparable experience in medical office

Knowledge: Medical terminology, consistently model AIDET principles, service excellence and service recovery. Consistently demonstrate commitment to safe practices while abiding by all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.

Skills: Basic computer skills such as Email, Microsoft Office Suite products. Effective, professional, empathetic communication skills are required.

Licensure/Certification:  Licensed CMA. Venipuncture certification preferred. 

Conditions of employment: Annual flu shot, annual TB test, CPR Certification, compliance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines, wear all required Personal Protective Equipment
