Greencross Vet Hospital (GVH) is looking for experienced and passionate Emergency & Critical Care Nurses to join our growing 24/7 team.

This is an opportunity to work in a busy, multidisciplinary teaching hospital where no two shifts are the same. You’ll care for emergency and critically ill patients, work alongside experienced clinicians and specialist teams, and have access to advanced diagnostics, equipment and facilities — all within a team that values collaboration, learning and exceptional patient care.

As an ECC Nurse, you’ll be at the heart of our emergency service, providing hands-on nursing care to a diverse range of emergency and critically ill patients.

From stabilising emergency presentations and managing hospitalised critical patients to assisting with advanced diagnostics, procedures and emergency surgeries, you’ll have the opportunity to use your skills, expand your knowledge and make a genuine difference to patients and their families.

You will:

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.
• Triage and assist with the stabilisation of emergency presentations.
• Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, diagnostics and surgeries.
• Perform technical nursing skills including venepuncture, IV catheterisation, blood sampling and patient monitoring.
• Monitor anaesthesia and provide high-quality post-operative and critical care.
• Recognise and respond confidently to changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to patient care planning.
• Communicate effectively with clinicians, clients and the wider hospital team.
• Work collaboratively across our multidisciplinary hospital to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.

We’re looking for nurses who enjoy being challenged, thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about developing their ECC skills.

Ideally, you will have:

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent – essential.
• A minimum of 2 years' ECC experience, or approximately 5 years' General Practice experience with strong clinical skills.
• Confidence with venepuncture, catheterisation, anaesthesia monitoring and emergency triage.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Availability across a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
