Veterinary Director - Greencross Midland
- Full-time
Company Description
At Greencross Midland, veterinary leadership looks a little different.
Our multidisciplinary hospital brings General Practice and the Animal Emergency Centre together under one roof, creating a dynamic clinical environment with a varied caseload, strong team collaboration and opportunities to shape the future of the clinic.
We are looking for an experienced veterinarian to step into the role of Veterinary Director and lead our GP team at Midland. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys clinical work but is also ready to have a broader impact through mentoring, team development, clinical standards and the ongoing growth of the practice.
About the clinic
Greencross Midland offers a broad and interesting caseload, from preventative healthcare and routine consultations through to surgery, complex medical work-ups and urgent presentations. With GP and emergency services operating from the same location, there are opportunities for strong case continuity, shared learning and collaboration across different areas of veterinary medicine.
You will be joining an experienced group of vets, nurses and support staff who communicate openly, support one another and work together to provide a high standard of patient care.
About the role
As Veterinary Director, you will play an important leadership role within the clinic while remaining hands-on clinically. You will help guide the GP team, support clinical decision-making and work closely with the Hospital Manager, Area Manager, Regional Clinical Director and wider Greencross leadership team.
Your role may include:
- Providing clinical leadership and direction for the GP team
- Supporting, mentoring and developing veterinarians within the clinic
- Helping to drive clinical standards, patient care and client experience
- Managing your own consultations, cases and surgical workload
- Supporting team communication, workflow and day-to-day clinical operations
- Working collaboratively with the AEC team where appropriate
- Contributing to clinic growth, team engagement and a positive workplace culture
- Supporting new graduates or less experienced vets where required
This role would suit an experienced veterinarian who enjoys both clinical practice and people leadership, and who is looking for the support of a large network while still having a meaningful influence at clinic level.
What you will receive
- Leadership support from your Regional Clinical Director, Area Manager and Hospital Manager
- Access to a wider network of experienced Veterinary Directors and clinical leaders
- A clinical environment where you can continue developing your own skills while supporting others
- Heidi Health AI to assist with clinical notes and reduce time spent on administration
- Access to internal continuing education, including seminars, practical workshops, webinars, short courses, modular programs and eLearning
- One week of study leave, with the option to convert it to annual leave, prorata
- Paid AVA membership or Veterinary Board registration, plus annual VIN membership
- Mental Health First Aid Officers across our clinic network
- Free and confidential counselling through Telus Health, available 24/7
- Discounts across Greencross clinics, Petbarn and a range of external retailers
- Relocation assistance for eligible interstate/international candidates
About you
You are an experienced veterinarian who is confident in general practice and interested in leading a team. You may already be in a Veterinary Director or Lead Vet role, or you may be an experienced GP veterinarian ready to take the next step in your leadership career.
You will also be:
- Confident managing consultations, medical cases and routine surgery
- Comfortable supporting clinical decision-making within the team
- Approachable and clear in your communication
- Genuinely interested in mentoring and developing other veterinarians
- Able to work with a level of autonomy while knowing when to seek support
- Committed to building a positive, inclusive and supportive team culture
