VRH Dandenong is delighted to announce the reopening of our Oncology Department and invites experienced Veterinary Nurses to join our dedicated specialist team.

The Role
Our purpose-built Oncology Ward is ready to recommence services. The department will initially consist of one Specialist Oncologist supported by a highly skilled nursing team equivalent to two full-time positions.
As a Veterinary Oncology Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting oncology consultations, caring for hospitalised patients, and assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You will be exposed to a diverse and rewarding caseload, including a high referral volume from our Emergency and Critical Care service.
You will work in a highly advanced clinical setting, with access to state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic imaging facilities including MRI, CT, Endoscopy, Fluoroscopy and Ultrasound. Close collaboration with other specialty departments will enable delivery of tailored, patient-focused treatment plans.
This position is available on a full-time or part-time basis. Experienced nurses from other specialties with a strong interest in Oncology, are encouraged to apply. Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional, compassionate care to patients and clients
Coordinate daily patient care, schedules and workflows
Provide nursing care to hospitalised and post-procedure patients
Prepare for, assist with and monitor diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Safely prepare, administer and handle cytotoxic medications
Assist with anaesthesia planning and patient monitoring
Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic clinical environment
Support oncology consultations, treatments and structured patient handovers
About You
Certificate IV or Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a veterinary nurse
Strong technical nursing skills, including anaesthesia monitoring
Thorough medication knowledge with strong attention to detail
Calm, adaptable and professional in high-pressure clinical settings
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient care
Experience with RxWorks and Smartflow is desirable but not essential
