Job Description

Summary:

Working collaboratively with the STEM Learning Department, Camp Curiosity instructors will facilitate creative, interactive, hands-on instruction for youth through our Camp Curiosity educational program. 

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating multi-grade STEM activities for campers K-8th
  • Creating fun, interactive, and effective STEM learning environments for all campers
  • Prepping all lesson plans, including reading curriculum in advance, and creating an immersive classroom environment
  • Establishing high expectations for performance and engagement
  • Conducting him/herself with high levels of professionalism and appropriateness at all times
  • Maintaining classroom safety and behavior management
  • Setting up and cleaning up instructional areas
  • Communicate with the Leadership Team about camper concerns in a timely manner
  • Provide operational support during camper check in/check out
  • Provide program feedback to the Leadership Team
  • Observing any other established program standards, policies and procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Please note that this position requires working outdoors for prolonged periods in varied weather conditions, frequently climbing narrow stairwells and occasionally lifting heavy objects such as supply bins and demonstration props.  It may also include working with chemicals and gases including but not limited to liquid nitrogen, dry ice, nitric acid, hydrogen, and oxygen.  Training will be provided.

Education and Work Experience Qualifications:

  • Classroom teaching experience required.
  • Active (Pre-K-8) Teacher’s license preferred

Rate - $13/hour

  • June 14-18: K-3 Loop the Loop; 4-8 Future Architects
  • June 21-25: K-3 Element Explorers; 4-8 Behind the Screen
  • June 28-July 2: K-3 Master Builders; 4-8 Feats of Physics
  • July 5-9: K-3 Space Adventures; 4-8 Master Makers
  • July 12-16: K-3 Player Fun; 4-8 Science Sleuths
  • July 19-23: K-3 Think It/Make It; 4-8 Solar System Scientists
  • July 26-30: K-3 STEM Detectives; 4-8 BMX Breakdown: The Science Behind the Ride
  • August 2-6: K-3 Machine Mechanics; 4-8 Make a Scene
  • August 9-13: K-3 Director’s Cut; 4-8 Eco-STEM
  • August 16-20: K-3 Natural Problem Solvers; 4-8 Nuts and Bolts

Camp Curiosity @Home camps are virtual week-long-day camps. The instructor will host the virtual session at GLSC. The week of curriculum is repeated for the entire month:

  • June 7-July 2: Coding and Automation (K-3 and 4-8)
  • July 5-30: Rocket Science (K-3 and 4-8)
  • August 2-20: Construction Zone (K-3 and 4-8)

Candidates must be available from 8am-4:30pm for an entire week of programming
