Gray Mackenzie Retail Lebanon (GMRL) owns Spinneys, the leading multinational supermarket chain which made its comeback in 1996, 23 years after shutting down its operations due to the civil war. GMRL now operates 16 Spinneys branches. In 2014, GMRL introduced the Happy Discount Store, an innovative retail concept, which has today grown into a popular discount store brand, with 5 branches. GMRL acquired the Grab’nGo Convenience Stores in 2018, and presently operates 11 branches of the local convenience store chain. The latest addition to the company’s portfolio has been the Signature by Spinneys concept, launched in 2019.

Job Overview:

The Deputy Warehouse Manager is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Manager in overseeing daily warehouse operations, managing staff, and ensuring that all goods are delivered to the retail stores and customers in a timely and efficient manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct team to deliver outstanding customer service
• Collaborate with the warehouse manager and various departments to ensure product availability and timely delivery of goods to stores and customers.
• Assist with the overall management of the warehouse, including inventory management, storage, and distribution of goods.
• Supervise and train warehouse personnel to ensure they understand best practices for inventory management and warehouse operations.
• Perform regular stock checks and ensure that inventory is being managed accurately and efficiently.
• Collaborate with the warehouse manager to ensure that all warehouse equipment and facilities are properly maintained, and all safety regulations are followed.
• Assist in the development of strategies to improve warehouse efficiency, reduce waste, and improve the overall quality of warehouse operations.
• Act as a liaison with third-party vendors, ensuring they are meeting their obligations and contract terms.
• Support the warehouse manager in developing and maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, handling, and usage of goods, and produce reports on warehouse activity and performance.
• Make sure that the internal food safety requirements are applied based on the local regulatory and statutory bodies, and on international standards
• Maintain staff by orienting, and training employees
• Provide on-going leadership and support to team
• Resolve any staff issues and escalate any unresolved issue to superior
• Ensure on-the-job training using training checklists
• Recommend disciplinary action as needed following established policy
• Control knowledge of procedures and ensure their strict implementation
• Give clear responsibilities to the team
• Provide assistance and organize good communication with the team
• Organize and maintain departmental communication system that encourages staff participation
• Manage shift schedule to include trainings, vacations, leaves, and backups
• Ensure department staff is informed of policy changes
• Involve the team in service and activities

• Between 3 and 5 years of experience in related field
• Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain or any related field
