Job Description

As a key member of Grantek team you will have the benefit of working alongside senior engineering professionals. The role will offer a high level of exposure to a wide variety of engineering technologies ranging from designing ,documenting electrical automation system, using a variety of programming, learning about highest standards of safety and compliance, minimizing risks, mitigating hazards with a focus on machine inspections and maintaining the documentation system. You  will have a great opportunity to have a hands-on experience in different areas of engineering and a steady growth path leading to a Senior position.

Key-skills and interests: electrical hard-ware design, machine level controls, high-level programming, operational efficiency, mechatronics. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Designing and documenting electrical automation systems

  • Providing support once installation is complete

  • Engineering and maintaining real-time automation controls and information solutions

  • Ensuring safety by conducting routine equipment and machinery inspections to identify potential hazards

  •  Conducting risk assessments and escalating issues to close the gaps and ensure maximum functionality

  • System programming, debugging, and testing

  • Creating documentation, including project engineering notes, project proposals, project design traceability documentation, case studies, and more

  • Creating methodologies and complex problem-solving

  • Learning new technologies

  • Having fun and being challenged

Technologies Used

  AutoCAD 2012/2014.

  Strong working knowledge of the following Manufacture hardware (Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC5 and SLC 500, Siemens S5 & S7 & TI, Omron, Modicon, GE, etc.) for specification of the following;

  •  PLC I/O Modules
  • PLC I/O buses (Profibus, Fieldbus, DeviceNet, etc.)
  •  PLC Communications (Ethernet)
  • Motor Starters. Overloads, Relays and Operator Controls
  • Field Sensors (Level, Pressure, Temperature, Proximity switches, Encoders, Resolvers etc)
  •   Variable Frequency Drives
  •  Servo Motion Control products (AB, Reliance, Pacific Scientific, Emerson, etc.)
  • Pneumatic Control products
  •  Hydraulic Control products
  •  Safety Monitoring Relays, PLCs, Category 3

 

Qualifications

  • Successful or upcoming completion of B.Sc. in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering Technology degree.
  • TUV certification is an asset
  • Academic or working experience with some or all the listed “Technologies Used”, in previous section.
  • Meticulous, conscientious, analytical, focused, self-starter individual, who is a quick learner.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Have full-time access to a personal vehicle
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% throughout North America.
