Job Description

As a key member of Grantek’s Systems Group, you will be developing real-time automation solutions from the manufacturing plant floor to the enterprise level, using a variety of software programming tools: C++, HTML, .NET, SQL, VB, Database software, PLC programming, Servo Motion Control, Networking, operator graphics and control software HMI & SCADA. All junior team members will enter our mentoring program where they will work directly beside our Senior Engineer professionals.

Key-skills and interests: high-level programming, database development, machine and process control, mechatronics.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Engineering and implementing real-time automation controls solutions

  • Conceptualizing the design of the project life cycle

  • System programming, debugging, and testing

  • Completing documentation, including project engineering notes, proposal writing, case studies, and more

  • Commissioning new solutions on client sites; finding opportunities for improvements

  • Creating methodologies and solving complex problems

  • Learning new technologies

  • Mentoring colleagues on your expertise knowledge base

  • Having fun and being challenged

Technologies Used:

  • PLC Programming: Allen Bradley PLC5 and SLC 500, Siemens S5 & S7 & TI, Omron, Modicon, GE, etc..

  • PLC networking: TCP/IP, DH+, Modbus +, SINEC H1 & L2, TIWAY.

  • Servo Motion Control programming: AB GML, Delta, Delta Tau, Emerson, etc..

  • HMI programming: PanelMate, PanelView, CTC Interact, XYCOM, Total Control QuickDesigner, etc..

  • SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) system experience: Wonderware,
    RSVIEW, FactoryLink, Intellution FIX, Simatic WinCC, GE Cimplicity, etc..

  • Programming tools: C/C++, HTML, .NET, SQL, VB, Database software.

  • Database programming: DB IV, MS Access, MS SQL SERVER, Oracle, etc..

Qualifications

 

  • Successful or upcoming completion of B.Sc. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Technology degree.

  • Academic or working experience with some or all of the following programming tools:
    C/C++, HTML, .NET, SQL, VB, Database software, PLC programming, and Pascal. For our Senior Engineers/Designers, experience with the ‘Technologies’ Listed above.

  • Experience with database programming considered an asset (DB IV, MS Access, MS SQL SERVER, Oracle, etc.).

  • Experience or proficiency with Multiple Operating Systems also seen as an asset (Win95, WinNT, Unix, QNX, etc.).

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Meticulous, conscientious, analytical, objective-driven individual who is a quick learner.

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% throughout North America
