Job Description

SUMMARY:
***$17-$24 per hour based on experience***The primary role of the GR Snowsports School Training Manager is to ensure the delivery of an exceptional and memorable experience to all our guests and students. Through a hands-on, highly interactive approach, the TM will utilize their knowledge, skills and experience in the industry to train and mentor our instructional staff on all levels. A successful training program will include the creation and implementation of a sustained, individualized approach to education and training of the team, with a focus on personal growth and professional development. Integral the overall success of our school, the TM is tasked with optimizing the on-snow guest experience and providing our instructional staff with expert coaching and real-time qualitative feedback. In collaboration with the Director and Supervisors, trainers will identify and outline appropriate lesson terrain usage, teaching methods and best guest services practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain meaningful rapport with the entire staff to encourage strong and sustained employee retention.
  • Create, facilitate, and manage a GR Instructor Training forum that includes an internal training/ clinic calendar, PSIA/ AASI certification event calendar, PSIA/ AASI training materials, certification standards, and supplemental reference materials. The forum will also operate as the primary communication outlet, and will provide a platform for instructors to discuss, plan, share, and collaborate on professional development.
  • Assists in the identification, recruitment, and hiring of qualified instructors and staff that will contribute to the growth and development of our program.
  • Implementation of a comprehensive Safety Program/ Plan the school will adapt and operate under as our standard. The program/ plan will be innovative, all-encompassing, and will exceed industry standards. The plan will be conceived in collaboration with the Director of Snowsports School, Director of Ski Patrol, Mt. Risk Management, and the VP of Operations, giving careful consideration and attention to the unique topography, teaching terrain, and operational equipment utilized at GR.
  • Development, management, and implementation of a comprehensive training program for GR Snowsports School instructional staff. The program will be derived using PSIA/ AASI national Standards, and will incorporate new and innovative teaching methods used to maximize the quality and depth of our product.
  • Any and all additional duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Facilitates lesson splits
  • Assists guests in the morning check in process. This will include helping students into rental gear where applicable.
  • Routine monitoring of our approved lesson appropriate Terrain Parks . This will include the delivery of weekly recommendations of feature size, shapes, ramps, and potential hazard.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:


  • Acts as the backup of the Child and Adult Supervisor's
  • Manages daily lineups and lesson allocation in the absence of supervisory staff.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks all at the same time without sacrifices quality or attention to detail

Education or Formal Training:


  • Current PSIA Level III required with a Child Specialist Level II or higher preferred

Experience:


  • Minimum of 3 years teaching snowsports full time or 5 years part time
  • Experience leading training clinics highly desired
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for snowsports instruction and for encouraging growth within others
  • Dedicated to being connected to the industry and it’s trends and advances in teaching methods and equipment
  • A demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and adapt; to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be available to commit to a submitted schedule including some weekend and holiday shifts and be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business.
  • Employment in this position is subject to a satisfactory background screening.

Working Environment:


  • Must be willing and able to work in reasonably poor and inclement weather conditions.

Physical Activities:


  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to climb or balance. The employee will need to be able to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Assist fallen students in getting up and maintaining balance utilizing proper lifting techniques when assisting students.
  • Will be required to walk and balance in wet, icy and uneven footing.
  • Ability to perform the duties of this job in all weather conditions.
