Job Description

Get to Know the Team

The VN/MM/KH Controllership team is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, month-end close, statutory reporting, audit support, accounting governance and local compliance across the cluster.

Vietnam is the largest and most complex market in the cluster. The team supports multiple entities, high-volume transactions, new product launches, business model changes, contract reviews, tax / audit matters, treasury-related processes and local statutory requirements.

Myanmar and Cambodia are smaller markets but still require strong controllership oversight, issue escalation, audit / statutory support and consistent governance.

The team is going through a transition and requires a leader who can provide clarity, stability and structure. The successful candidate will be expected to build trust with the team, understand each person's scope and workload, strengthen backup coverage, coach team members, and create a more sustainable operating rhythm.

Get to Know the Role

The Head of Cluster Controllership & Finance Governance is a senior finance leadership role responsible for strengthening controllership, governance and financial reporting discipline across Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia.

The role sits at the intersection of technical accounting, statutory compliance, business partnering, finance governance, treasury-related controls and transformation. The successful candidate will not only oversee month-end close and statutory reporting, but also help redesign the way controllership operates across the cluster.

This role is especially important during a period of transition. Vietnam is a large and complex market with multiple entities, high transaction volume, fast-moving business models and increasing regulatory scrutiny. Myanmar and Cambodia have smaller teams but require consistent governance, escalation and technical support.

The successful candidate will be expected to quickly understand the current operating model, stabilize the team, strengthen review and escalation mechanisms, reduce manual dependency, and build a more scalable controllership structure for the future.

This is a role for someone who can operate both hands-on and strategically — someone who can deep dive into accounting / reporting issues when needed, but also step back to build better processes, clearer ownership, stronger controls and a more resilient team.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

1. Cluster Controllership Leadership

Lead controllership oversight across Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Ensure timely, accurate and high-quality month-end close, reporting and controllership deliverables.

Provide leadership and guidance to country controllership teams across the cluster.

Build a scalable review and escalation model across legal entities and markets.

Ensure clear ownership, backup coverage and effective workload allocation within the team.

Act as senior escalation point for complex accounting, reporting and controllership matters.

2. Financial Reporting, MEC and Accounting Governance

Oversee month-end close quality, trial balance review, journal review, balance sheet review and reporting pack sign-off.

Ensure proper review of accounting matters, unusual flux, judgmental entries and balance sheet exposures.

Strengthen MEC discipline, close governance and documentation quality.

Provide guidance on accounting treatment for new business models, products, commercial schemes and partnership arrangements.

Work with Regional Controllership / BFMR / FBS to align on accounting treatment, reporting standards and process requirements.

Ensure accounting issues are identified, documented, escalated and resolved on a timely basis.

3. Statutory, Audit and Compliance Oversight

Oversee statutory reporting, external audit, local financial statements and related compliance requirements.

Ensure audit readiness and timely resolution of audit findings / management letter points.

Partner with Tax, Legal and external advisors on statutory, regulatory and authority-facing matters.

Maintain strong documentation and control evidence for audit, tax and regulatory reviews.

Ensure proper support for upcoming tax inspections, statutory audits and other authority requests.

4. Finance Governance and Internal Controls

Strengthen finance governance across Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Review and improve control points over accounting, reporting, payment, bank, tax and settlement-related processes.

Establish clear RACI across Country Finance, Controllership, Tax, Treasury, Legal, FinOps, GFin, FBS / SSC and Business teams.

Identify control gaps, process weaknesses and recurring manual work, and drive sustainable remediation.

Ensure no-surprise escalation culture for material accounting, tax, audit, treasury or statutory matters.

5. Transformation, Automation and Operating Model Design

Lead finance transformation initiatives for the cluster, including MEC simplification, manual work reduction and automation.

Redesign operating model to reduce person dependency and improve scalability.

Partner with FBS / SSC, Product, Tech and Regional Finance teams to improve finance processes and system flows.

Drive standardization of trackers, SOPs, review templates, approval flows and escalation mechanisms.

Support transition from manual workarounds to automated / system-based controls where possible.

Build a future-ready controllership model that can support business growth without proportional headcount growth.

6. Treasury / Cash Governance Support

Provide finance governance oversight over treasury-related controllership matters.

Support cash forecast discipline, FD planning, bank mandate visibility, settlement flows, intercompany cash follow-up and exception reporting.

Partner with Regional Treasury, Country Finance, FinOps and GFin on bank account governance, cash movement visibility and settlement controls.

Ensure treasury / banking / cash-related matters are properly documented, reviewed and escalated.

Reduce risk of interest leakage, idle cash, delayed settlements, unclear bank mandates or weak payment governance.

7. Business Partnering and New Product Governance

Act as senior controllership advisor for new product rollouts, commercial schemes and business model changes.

Assess accounting, tax, treasury, reporting and control implications of new initiatives.

Ensure business teams receive timely and practical guidance while maintaining control discipline.

Partner with BFMR, FBS, Tax, Legal, Treasury and Product teams to resolve complex accounting and operational finance questions.

Ensure new initiatives are properly operationalized before launch, with clear data source, system flow, GL mapping, tax treatment and reporting ownership.

8. People Leadership and Capability Building

Lead, coach and develop controllership team members across the cluster.

Build successor pipeline and reduce dependency on single individuals.

Create clear role ownership, career development and capability-building plans for G5 / G4 / G3 team members.

Improve team morale, workload sustainability and collaboration.

Build a culture of accountability, constructive challenge, ownership and continuous improvement.

Ensure team members are supported with structured onboarding, handover and coaching.
