We build frameworks, libraries, and primitives that thousands of Grab backend engineers rely on every day. Our portfolio includes microservices frameworks, resiliency libraries, and dependency management solutions. By combining in-house innovations with carefully integrated third-party technologies, we accelerate development, testing, and automation across the organisation.

Get to Know the Role
As a Lead Engineer in the Frameworks, Libraries, Primitives team (FLIP) you develop the framework that powers our backend services. You will identify opportunities to optimise our Software Development Lifecycle, lead technical projects, and shape the next generation of microservices for Grab.
Our team operates across three locations in South East Asia. You will work from our Singapore office, and you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager based in the same location.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Identify, plan, and implement AI-driven tools to reduce engineering workload and boost productivity across Grab teams.
- Develop frameworks and libraries in Go that empower product engineers to ship faster without reinventing the wheel.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmaps.
- Mentor junior engineers and cultivate a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence.
- Champion high code quality through rigorous code reviews and constructive feedback.
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- You have 7+ years of software development experience and a history of delivering successful solutions across teams.
- You have proficiency in Go. You write idiomatic, testable, and maintainable code.
- You have hands-on experience writing and operating backend microservices. You are familiar with HTTP/gRPC, relational databases (MySQL) and NoSQL databases (Redis). You have a working knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh (Istio), and observability (DataDog, Kibana, Grafana).
- You understand how developers use version control and CI/CD to collaborate on a codebase and ship software (Git, GitLab).
