Get to Know the Team

The Country Finance team is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, planning and analysis, business partnering, compliance and governance, and decision support. We are an integral part of ensuring Grab Thailand's financial integrity and sustainable growth. Our team spans FP&A and Controllership functions, covering multiple legal entities across On Demand Services and Financial Services businesses.

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a Head of Controllership to lead the accounting and controllership function for Grab Thailand. You will report into Country Finance Director responsible for the oversight of accounting operations across all Thai legal entities, driving the function's transformation agenda - including process modernization, MEC accerelation and Shared Service Center Transition - while maintaining the highest standards of financial control, compliance, and regulatory integrity. You will manage a team of accounting professionals, engaging senior external partners and partnering across local and regional teams. As Grab accelerates its AI and automation agenda, You will also be an advocate in identifying opportunity and guiding team to create user-first solutions at scale.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Accounting operations and financial close: Ensure all financial transactions comply with accounting standards and Group policies. Lead and accelerate the monthly/quarterly financial close process (MEC). Review automated transactions, system-generated reports, reconciliations, and journal vouchers. Perform analytical reviews. Ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial records across all Thai legal entities. Establish accounting policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
  • Compliance, control and regulatory filing: Ensure full compliance including SOX controls. Develop, document and maintain important controls for SOX programs. Oversee statutory and regulatory filings. Improve internal controls, process efficiency, and automation. Maintain knowledge of Thai accounting standards and regulatory changes
  • Function transformation: Lead the controllership function through its transformation agenda — including MEC cycle acceleration, process standardization, AI-driven workflow automation, and transition of scope to the Shared Service Center (SSC). Lead solutions by identifying where AI and latest tools can materially improve controllership outputs. Guide and upskill the team to adopt new methods, advocating a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation. Manage the people and process dimensions of this transition to ensure continuity and quality.
  • Cash management and treasury: Monitor cash flow and working capital across entities. Ensure adequacy and utilization in collaboration with Regional Treasury and Tax teams.
  • Business partnering: Work cross-functionally (locally and regionally) to support projects. Provide financial and accounting advisory to other departments. Collaborate on regional projects and ad hoc requests.
  • Stakeholder management: Manage relationships with external auditors, local regulators, banks, and other external parties. Ensure all external communications and submissions meet quality and standards.
  • Team leadership and development: Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals. Set clear performance expectations, build accountability, and mentor team members toward higher standards of delivery. Model and strengthen the 4Hs (Heart, Hunger, Honour and Humility) in daily leadership. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional excellence.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Degree in Accounting from an accredited university
  • CPA/CPD License required
  • Minimum 10–12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or leadership capacity overseeing a controllership or accounting function.
  • Knowledge of TFRS and IFRS accounting standards. Experience with internal controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks. General knowledge of Thai tax legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Preferably, experiences in similar businesses (e.g. e-marketplace, digital platform, B2C logistics, financial services)
  • Experience managing regulatory relationships and high-stakes external partner engagements (auditors, regulators, banks).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — able to engage across seniority levels, functions, and cultures, and to manage upward with transparency and consistency.
  • Growth mindset toward technology and innovation — comfortable operating in an environment where new tools and methods are actively encouraged, and able to guide a team through that adoption curve.
