The Controllership team within Grab's CFO Office is the steward of the integrity of our financial records and external reporting.

We set the accounting policies that govern one of Southeast Asia's largest technology groups. We partner with the business on complex and high impact transactions. We ensure that what we report reflects both the letter and the spirit of the standards.

As Grab continues to grow across mobility, deliveries, and financial services, the team plays a central role in protecting and strengthening the foundation of trust on which our financial statements are built.

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for an Assistant Finance Manager that takes full ownership of the high-level financial governance, internal controls, and corporate accounting frameworks for a complex segment of the Group's corporate portfolio.

Operating with a controllership mindset, you will be a strategic gatekeeper, ensuring balance sheet integrity, accounting policy understanding, and strict internal governance across their assigned corporate entities.

We are looking for a versatile professional with a solid background in external audit to bring an analytical, fresh perspective to our financial operations.

The role will be well-suited for a professional who is versatile, scaling their scope smoothly to support evolving business dynamics, corporate finance projects, and team goals.

You will be reporting to the Finance Manager, Reporting and be base at our Malaysia office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

1. Financial Governance & Closing Deliverables

  • High-Level Controllership Oversight: Act as a primary gatekeeper for financial data integrity, ensuring all accounting practices align strictly with corporate policies, GAAP/IFRS standards, and sound controllership principles.
  • Oversight of Close Cycles: Direct and secure the end-to-end execution of the Month-End (MEC) and Quarter-End Close (QEC) lifecycles for the assigned corporate portfolio.
  • Financial Control & Ledger Principle: Oversee overall general ledger health, manage the formal review, journals and account reconciliations approval, and lead variance and FLUX analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Integration & Process Excellence: Collaborate dynamically with key stakeholders—including the Shared Services Center (SSC), Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and regional finance teams—to challenge legacy workflows, drive end-to-end operational efficiencies, improve financial data alignment, and optimize group reporting outputs.

2. Controls, Annual Audit & Compliance Management

  • Yearly Audit Execution: Lead and intensively participate in the preparation and coordination of the yearly statutory and group audit cycles. Be the primary focal point for external and internal auditors to ensure swift query resolution and clean audit sign-offs.
  • SOX Compliance & Internal Controls: Uphold and stress-test solid internal control frameworks (SOX) across all business processes to ensure zero compliance gaps.

3. Portfolio Management & Corporate Finance Partnering

  • Corporate Finance & Transaction Accounting: Act as the core controllership partner for strategic corporate actions, overseeing the accounting treatment for complex capital restructurings, funding arrangements, and active M&A integrations.
  • Systems & Process Optimization: Use enterprise-grade ERP structures, treasury systems, and reconciliation platforms to challenge legacy workflows and lead process automation.

4. Team Collaboration & Operational Continuity

  • Team Collaboration & Shared Success: Participate in cross-training projects and provide mutual support within the immediate finance team to foster well-rounded professional development and ensure smooth, balanced operational continuity.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or equivalent. Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, MIA) is advantageous.
  • Domain Expertise: Comprehensive operational understanding of the accounting principles and financial mechanics governing complex corporate structures, multi-entity frameworks, and complex financial products.
  • Systems & Digital Literacy: Advanced proficiency in enterprise resource planning ecosystems—specifically Oracle ERP—alongside automated financial controllership platforms (such as treasury management and account reconciliation tools). Exposure to or familiarity with AI-driven accounting tools, automated workflows, or advanced data analytics is advantageous.
