Get to know the role
We are looking for an experienced Head of Product to lead Grab's Insurance products and platforms across Southeast Asia.
Insurance represents one of GrabFin's most strategic growth opportunities. By combining Grab's ecosystem, distribution, data capabilities, and consumer engagement, we have the opportunity to reimagine how insurance is discovered, purchased, and experienced.
You will be responsible for defining and executing the product strategy across Grab's insurance portfolio, spanning embedded insurance experiences, distribution platforms, customer journeys, partner integrations, and future insurance innovations.
You will work closely with engineering, design, data science, commercial, operations, compliance, and insurance partners to build products that deliver meaningful value to consumers, driver-partners, merchant-partners, and insurers across Southeast Asia.
Ultimately, you will be responsible for creating best-in-class insurance experiences while building scalable insurance capabilities that support Grab's long-term vision in financial services.
You will report to the Head of Product, GrabFin.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
Product Strategy, Roadmap, & Vision
- Define and execute the long-term product strategy for Grab's insurance business across Southeast Asia.
- Identify the most important customer problems, market opportunities, and emerging trends that can drive the next generation of insurance products and experiences.
- Develop a clear product roadmap that balances customer value, commercial outcomes, operational scalability, and regulatory requirements.
- Continuously improve product outcomes through rigorous prioritization and learning.
Customer-Centric Product Development
- Deeply understand the needs, behaviors, and pain points of consumers, driver-partners, merchant-partners, and insurance partners.
- Champion customer-centric thinking across the organization and ensure product decisions are grounded in customer insights and data.
- Drive the creation of seamless, intuitive, and engaging insurance experiences across the Grab ecosystem.
Insurance Platform & Ecosystem Development
- Lead the evolution of Grab's insurance platform capabilities, including partner integrations, policy management, claims experiences, underwriting workflows, and embedded insurance infrastructure.
- Build scalable product foundations that enable rapid launch of insurance products across multiple markets and insurance partners.
- Drive platform reliability, operational efficiency, and product scalability across the region.
Innovation & New Business Models
- Explore and validate new insurance propositions, distribution models, and ecosystem opportunities.
- Identify ways to leverage Grab's unique assets. including behavioral, transactional, mobility, and ecosystem data, to create differentiated insurance experiences and products.
- Partner with business leaders to incubate and scale new insurance initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and emerging technologies to improve customer experiences, operational efficiency, underwriting workflows, claims journeys, and product development processes across the insurance value chain.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work closely with engineering, design, data science, operations, legal, compliance, risk, actuarial, and commercial teams to deliver high-impact products.
- Align stakeholders around product vision, priorities, and execution plans across multiple markets.
- Navigate complex trade-offs across customer experience, business performance, regulatory requirements, and technical constraints.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of product managers.
- Create a culture of customer obsession, ownership, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Develop product talent and raise the overall product management bar across the organization.
- Foster a culture of AI-native product development by helping product managers effectively leverage AI tools, agents, automation, and data-driven workflows to improve product discovery, decision-making, execution speed, and overall team productivity.
Qualifications
The Essential Skills You Will Need
- At least 10 years of product management experience, including significant experience in embedded insurance, digital insurance, insurtech, or insurance distribution platforms.
- Experience building and scaling digital products from concept through execution in complex, highly regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of insurance value chains, including distribution, underwriting, claims, policy administration, and partner ecosystems.
- Demonstrated ability to define product strategy and translate it into successful execution across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Experience leading product teams and developing high-performing product organizations.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders across business, technology, and partner organizations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience using data to drive product decisions.
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving environments while maintaining strategic focus and execution discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across multiple Southeast Asian markets.
- Experience building platform products and partner-facing APIs.
- Experience leveraging AI, automation, or data-driven decisioning within insurance or financial services.
- Experience working with insurers, reinsurers, brokers, regulators, or insurance technology providers.
- Experience launching products that balance regulatory, operational, and customer experience considerations at scale.
