The Demand Experiences team's mission is to help consumers enjoy maximum value through engaging and offers, while driving sustainable growth for merchant partners, Grab, and multiple businesses. We engineer platforms used by all businesses in Grab to use our vast reward and promo capabilities. Millions of consumers find our products user-friendly and people at Grab widely use our systems in every transaction they make. Our team members are in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineering Intern who is excited to learn, write clean code, and contribute to products used by millions of users. You will work with experienced engineers and get hands-on exposure to the full software development lifecycle. This is a great opportunity to grow your technical skills in a collaborative environment.

This is a paid internship role. You will report to our Engineering Manager and be based onsite at our office in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • You will work with engineers and product teams to understand requirements and contribute to product features.
  • You will participate in technical discussions and learn from experienced engineers across teams.
  • You will write clean, readable, and testable code under guidance.
  • You will collaborate with QAs to ensure your features are tested and stable before release.
  • You will help improve the codebase by identifying areas for improvement and suggesting solutions.
  • You will learn how to debug and troubleshoot issues in a production-grade distributed system.
  • You will share knowledge and insights with fellow interns and teammates.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • You can start from May 2026 onwards with a minimum duration of 3 months
  • You are pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • You have foundation in Computer Science fundamentals — algorithms, data structures, and system design basics.
  • You have programming experience in any language and have the interest to learn the Golang skill too.
  • You are passionate about building products and features that solve user problems.
  • You are a learner who is not afraid to ask questions and own your work.
  • You have some proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab)
  • You have some exposure with a data warehouse like Snowflake, Redshift, or Spark
  • You have some exposure in deploying code in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments
