The Demand Experiences team's mission is to help consumers enjoy maximum value through engaging and offers, while driving sustainable growth for merchant partners, Grab, and multiple business lines. We engineer platforms used by all business lines in Grab to use our vast reward and promo capabilities. Millions of consumers find our products user-friendly and people at Grab widely use our systems in every transaction they make. Our team members are in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer who can not only write high-quality code daily but also has the determination to execute on projects through the full life cycle while dealing with cross-team dependencies. You will be reporting to Engineering Manager II. You will help to identify any problem arises and apply relevant skills to solve them.

This role is onsite based in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • You will work with the product and design team to understand requirements, provide product feedback, own and implement the product from start to finish.
  • You will participate and contribute some ideas in technical discussions with other engineering teams.
  • You will write code that is reusable, scalable and testable to ensure the products are delivered on time and with high quality.
  • You will collaborate with QAs to make sure all product requirements are met and the deployments are stable.
  • You will review code from other team members, provide constructive feedback and aim to raise the engineering bar.
  • You will improve the codebase. Propose and set better engineering solutions for the team.
  • You will be responsible and responsive during on-call duty. Debug and troubleshoot production issues.
  • You will provide technical guidance, mentorship and knowledge sharing to peers.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related fields.
  • You have 2+ years of experience in software engineering in a distributed systems environment.
  • You have Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
  • You have programming skills in any language but must be willing to work on Golang.
  • You are passionate about building products, features, and platforms to accelerate business growth.
