Get to Know the Team
You'll be part of the GrabMaps product team, a group of product managers, engineers, data scientists, and designers building world-class mapping solutions that power Grab's superapp and external partners. We work on products like AI-driven maps, Places, traffic and routing that power services experienced by millions of Grab consumers and B2B partners. You'll report to the Head of Product for Map Making and Commercialisation, working with leaders across engineering, operations, and business development.
Get to Know the Role
As a Principal Product Manager – Geo AI Map Making, you will be an individual contributor. You will lead the product strategy for Grab's Core Map that is used by millions of customers and driver partners across SEA. Your goal will be to drive innovation and efficiencies within the Grab Map domain to create delightful experiences for consumers and driver partners. Your goal is to deepen Core Map moat for Grab's core revenue drivers.
You will lead projects to conduct market research, benchmark and conduct ground truthing to measure quality. You will consolidate and analyse driver partner feedback, consumer feedback and live signals to find patterns. You will come up with strategies to use those insights to Grab's maximum advantage to build the best map for SEA and deepen the moat for Grab's main business.
You will be an important driver in revamping our existing map-making stack end-to-end, reimagining for the AI era utilising your AI expertise. This progressive and strategic challenge is central to accelerating Grab's technological moat and is a unique opportunity for an product leader.
You will operate at the intersection of consumer, product and business working with your team members to create value for Grab's core vertical consumers. You will lead a winning mapping product that makes our Grab country business teams successful.
The role equally spans strategy. You will define a multi-year geo roadmap based on your strategy. You will guide execution of that strategy by partnering with product and operations teams to deliver a roadmap on time and within budget.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
You will:
- Lead the Grab Core Map Strategy that aligns with Grab's strategic goals and priorities.
- Develop Grab Core Map roadmap based on research, benchmarks, user trends, user feedback, and on the ground insights.
- Partner with a cross functional project team, including engineering, analytics, design, data science.
- Analyze market trends, Grab core competitor activity, and customer need to incubate innovation that provide difference, market leadership and efficiency gains.
- Advocate and be the voice of the consumer to shape delightful experiences for Grab consumers and driver partners.
- Oversee budgets for product development and launch programs.
- Define and track success metrics across value, scalability and costs to inform prioritization.
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- 10+ years of experience as a product manager in 'location' or related industry
- Demonstrate high level of AI fluency and expertise in the map-making industry.
- Expertise in creating products through full software product lifecycle. This included summarizing requirements. It also involved inclusion of customer centricity into every stage of product life cycle. Additionally, it required leading by influence of a large, culturally diverse and distributed team. Furthermore, it necessitated data-driven decision-making across the product lifecycle.
- Demonstrated grasp of financial concepts to plan resource allocations and ongoing tracking against goals.
- Degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, business finance, economics or related field.
- Excellent ability to communicating complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences and strategies to all levels from executive leadership to engineering and operations.
The nice-to-haves:
- Entrepreneurial or startup experience building 0-1 products.
- Demonstrated participation in driving industry discussions as a company representative or recognition as an expert in Geospatial Industry with active participation in industry forums.
