Get to Know the Team

FinID Engineering Team's goal is to build products and services to enable Grab to be safe and compliant in-accordance to regulatory requirements.

We are a distributed team spread across India, Singapore, Vietnam, and the USA. Our team has direct end-user contact, and influence on the consumers, drivers, merchants and thus, Grab.

Get to Know the Role

As part of the FinID Team, you will have opportunities to work on multiple backend services. You will also participate in consumer immersions, where you will talk directly to end-users, identifying their challenges and how we can help them in their work life.

You will work onsite at Grab's CMC Creative Space Office in District 7 and reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Use technology to solve well defined problems, building individual components or features based on well defined tasks.
  • Understand the requirements of your projects and use that understanding in your designs.
  • Understand your codebase and systems, ensuring reliability through design reviews, monitoring, and applying OE (Operational Excellence) standards.
  • Take ownership of your code and ensure it's readable, maintainable, and well-tested.
  • Understand and apply the appropriate data structures and algorithms.
  • Give clear, relevant feedback during code reviews and respond well to feedback from others.
  • Respond promptly to issues and keep the working team updated.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience writing clean code in any language (C++, C, Java, Scala, Python, Node.JS, C#), and willing to learn Golang.
  • Write extensible code for complex projects and, picking the right abstractions that follow SOLID principles.
  • Understand more complex data structures and algorithms, and recognize when to use them
  • Understanding of the clean architecture principles
  • Familiarity in developing services that serves HTTP Restful API
  • Consume and publish messages from and to any stream platform like Kafka or Messaging platform like SQS
  • Familiarity with any cloud services, e.g AWS
  • An exposure to distributed architecture
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, GitLab
  • Experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle
