Job Description
Get to Know the Team
The AV Integrations & Deployments (AVID) team builds the integration services, operational tools, and fleet management portal that connect Grab with a diverse fleet of autonomous vehicles. From developing APIs and large-scale telemetry ingestion to real-time fleet monitoring, safety workflows, and depot operations, we ensure that AV technologies from multiple partners can be deployed safely, reliably, and at scale across our ecosystem.
Our mission is to make Grab the indispensable operating partner for AV fleets in Southeast Asia, building the platform and guide that defines how hybrid human and robot fleets operate in the region.
Get to Know the Role
As Head of Engineering, you will set the technical direction that enables Grab to integrate and scale autonomous vehicle fleets safely and reliably across Southeast Asia. You will lead a world-class engineering team, act as Grab's technical counterpart to global AV partners, and ensure that our fleet operations technology becomes the standard for hybrid human-robot fleets in the region.
You will report to the Head of Engineering, Autonomous Vehicle.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Architect the AV integration platform: Define and deliver the standardised APIs, fleet management tools, and partner dashboards that allow any AV provider to plug into Grab. This platform will be the foundation for scaling a multi-partner fleet across Southeast Asia.
- Build world-class fleet operations technology: Develop systems for real-time fleet monitoring, telemetry ingestion and depot workflows. Your goal is to maximise vehicle uptime, ensure passenger safety, and set new industry benchmarks for reliability.
- Institutionalize safety and reliability gates: Establish evidence-based readiness criteria, incident management systems, and compliance processes aligned with global safety standards (ISO 26262, ISO 21448). Every deployment will meet Grab's bar for safety before scaling.
- Define the AV fleet operations guide: Codify best practices in maintenance, charging, tele-operations, and customer support, turning AVID into the operator of choice for regulators, partners, and passengers alike.
- Grow and inspire a high-performing team: Attract top engineering talent, mentor future leaders, and foster a culture of ownership, technical rigor, and innovation that cements Grab's leadership in the AV era.
- Represent Grab externally: Serve as the technical face of AVID in discussions with global AV partners, regulators, and industry partners, positioning Grab as the indispensable operating partner for autonomous fleets in Southeast Asia and beyond.
