Get to Know the Team

The People Data Warehouse (PDW) team is a new team responsible for providing the analytics data platform for Grab's internal tools. We provide a data foundation to improve Grabber and organisational decision-making.

Get to Know the Role

As our Lead Data Engineer, you will not only maintain the current data warehousing platform but also extend its capabilities to integrate with our upcoming API and web application platform endeavors. Your expertise will ensure that our data remains accessible, reliable, and applicable across the organization.

You will report to the Engineering Manager. This role is based onsite in our Malaysia office R & D site.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Develop data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow and integration across multiple systems, while optimizing data processing workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability to support our needs.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality, integrity, and regulatory compliance, while implementing security measures to protect sensitive data and maintain data privacy.
  • Design, implement, and refine data models that support analytical and operational use cases, ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and understanding of evolving requirements.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to junior data engineers to enhance their skills and professional growth, while conducting regular code reviews and offering constructive feedback to ensure deliverables.
  • Work with data scientists, analysts, and other partners to understand data requirements and provide solutions that create value.
  • Monitor data systems to resolve issues, ensuring high availability and performance, while implementing automated alerting solutions to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • You will have 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles within a large-scale data warehouse environment
  • You will have experience using a stack comprising Redshift, Airflow, and Fargate.
  • You will have experience with APIs, and Web Application platforms applying our Redshift data auto-adaptive processes
  • You will have experience with data pipelines and workflow management tools.
  • You will have excellent capability with data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • You will use your problem-solving experience to troubleshoot issues while working as part of a team.
  • You will have experience guiding other team members.
