Job Description

Location: Gousto Warrington Fulfilment Centre, site-based

We’re looking for an Engineering Project Manager to join our Warrington fulfilment centre and take ownership of engineering projects across the site.

This is a hands-on role combining technical engineering knowledge with end-to-end project delivery. You’ll work closely with the site leadership team, engineers, contractors and suppliers to explore ideas, assess what is practical and deliver improvements safely.

The project mix will change depending on the priorities and investment plans at the site. It could include smaller continuous improvement projects, feasibility and research work, changes to existing equipment and larger automation or conveyancing projects.

You’ll become an integrated part of the Warrington team, helping turn engineering challenges into practical solutions and shaping how projects are approached and delivered.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects from the initial idea and feasibility study through to installation, testing and completion
  • Develop practical design solutions for engineering challenges across the site
  • Coordinate engineers, contractors, suppliers and internal teams to deliver projects safely
  • Review mechanical, electrical and automation designs, challenging proposals where needed
  • Manage project plans, budgets, risks and progress throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Work with suppliers to explore capital investment proposals and automation opportunities
  • Ensure projects meet health and safety, engineering and food-safety standards
  • Establish and improve engineering standards that support efficient project delivery
  • Lead performance trials and use the findings to improve equipment and processes
  • Communicate progress, risks and decisions clearly to site leaders and other stakeholders

Who you are

  • An engineer with a background in electrical, mechanical, chemical, process, industrial or another relevant engineering discipline
  • Technically confident enough to understand engineering problems and work effectively with subject-matter experts
  • Experienced in delivering capital engineering projects within a live manufacturing or operational environment
  • Comfortable managing several projects of different sizes, including detailed improvement work as well as larger investments
  • Familiar with managing contractors, suppliers, risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Knowledgeable about machinery safety and Construction Design and Management regulations
  • Able to balance technical, operational and financial considerations when assessing project options
  • An effective communicator who can bring together people with different technical and operational perspectives
  • Curious and comfortable researching new ideas, assessing feasibility and explaining recommendations clearly
  • Familiar with food-safe, high-care or another regulated manufacturing environment, or able to transfer relevant experience from a related industry
