Job Description

Location: London, Hybrid 

We are looking for a skilled Analytics Engineer with the knowledge to implement data modelling across the business to help us increase access to data and insights. You’ll be a bridge between the raw data sources and the consumers of data and insights, embedded in a cross-functional tribe team of data professionals to unlock access to high quality data. You will influence through providing the right data in the right structure to enable self-serve analytics capabilities.

What you'll do

Unlock efficient access to data - Own and manage data ingestion pipelines, implementing improvements and automating tasks to ensure efficiency and reliability. Resolve ingestion issues, handle large files, ensure validation and advanced data extraction without hardcoding.

Data modelling and reporting - Utilise data modelling approaches, translating business requirements into data models and dashboards. Manage and improve data models, and perform complex data transformations to standardise metrics and build a single source of truth for flexible data analysis.

Analytics Ops - Help manage and optimise the processes, tools, and systems used to gather, analyse, and report on data. Focusing on ensuring that analytics engineering workflows are efficient, reliable, and scalable; this will primarily be dbt core the associated git repositories and circleCI CICD processes. 

Cross-functional collaboration - Analytics engineers are embedded in our product teams, you will have a significant impact on how we leverage data to propel the business. You will focus on collaborating with your squad to understand their specific data needs and enhance the data assets they use. Your role will be crucial in continuously improving the quality and effectiveness of these data assets.

Who you are

  • Proven experience: You will have real-world experience in an analytics engineering or data engineering role, comfortable writing efficient SQL, optimising queries and debugging issues.
  • Communication skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, with proven experience in articulating technical concepts.
  • Driven and detail-oriented: Passionate about data with a demonstrable attention to detail, evidence of a problem-solving mindset, and proficiency in version control using GIT for effective collaboration
  • Technical proficiency: Experience with SQL, Python, dbt, Databricks. Should have experience developing and deploying in the cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure) as well as ETL/ELT design, implementation, and maintenance. 

Nice to haves

  • You are a data engineer looking to transition into analytics engineering or have a strong background in data engineering.
  • Have experience with code management and deployment (code quality, version control, deployments, CICD, etc.).
  • Built and maintained ETL pipelines in Spark or Python that process transactional data.
  • Have experience with Scripting using bash, Makefiles or Linux command line.
