Freightliner Northwest is currently reviewing applications for Diesel Technicians to join our team! We are currently offering a $5000 signing bonus to qualified technicians. In addition to meeting the requirements below, candidates eligible for the incentive must have a Class A or B CDL and industry certifications.

Freightliner Northwest is looking for entry level to master heavy-duty technicians in late model diesel engines, transmissions and electronics. Technicians will receive a competitive wage based on ability. Factory training is provided to all shop technicians to help them improve their skills. The ability to obtain Certifications from OEM’s in the trucking industry, to complete manufacturers’ on-line training, to use electronic diagnostic equipment, and to access technical information via the internet are essential functions of the job. Having a commercial driver’s license is a plus, but we also provide assistance to our technicians who want to acquire their CDLs.
Examples of Essential Functions of the Job (depending on experience)
- Determine unit condition by conducting inspections & diagnostic test, identifying deficiencies.
- Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications; make necessary adjustments if required.
- Perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain cost efficiency by using warranty; evaluating service & parts options.
- Maintain vehicle records with an accurate documentation of service and repairs.
- Complete engine overhauls as well as other repairs identified during the diagnostic process.
- Read schematics for electrical and air systems.
- Use good judgment to maintain a safe & organized work environment.
- Accept ownership for accomplishing new & different requests & exploring value added opportunities.
- Apply knowledge and work in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other rules and regulations as required.
- Other general shop duties as assigned

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certifications from OEM’s in the trucking industry and/or ASE certifications a plus.
Experience: Reviewing applications for experienced Diesel Technicians at all levels of experience.
Skills that are Representative of the Job: Solid working knowledge of power tools required to perform all phases of truck/chassis repair and maintenance. Strong mechanical aptitude. At higher levels of experience; demonstrate ability to perform all phases of heavy-duty diesel equipment and services. Must be professional and safety minded at all times. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good customer service skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Able to work with minimal supervision and direction. Work well independently as well as part of a team.
Other: Must have valid driver’s license and insurable. A full complement of tools including wrenches and sockets to 1 ¼ “, ¼” and ½” drive air tools, floor creeper and a roll around tool cabinet.
Physical: (These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successful perform the essential functions of the job.) Working in, under, and around trucks and trailers. Ability to lift, push or pull, objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 75 pounds). Safely walk, reach, bend, climb, push, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the essential job duties. Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time. Keyboard and computer usage.
Environmental: Primarily indoors with some outdoor work. High noise level. Coveralls, ear and eye protection provided. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
Hours: Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, night and weekends.
