Job Description

Part-time custodial position performing cleaning duties at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex in Charleston, WV.  Responsible for keeping premises of office buildings in clean and orderly condition by performing the following job duties:

  • Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Sweep and scrub floors.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Dust furniture and equipment.
  • Wash windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empty wastebaskets, and empties and cleans ashtrays.
  • Transport trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Replenish bathroom supplies.
  • Sweep and pickup trash on the parking lot and entrances or as specified by contract.
  • Clean all sinks, commodes, and mirrors.
  • Maintain custodial equipment and supplies to ensure economical use thereof.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Prior custodial experience required. 
  • Ability to pass criminal background check.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
