Job Description

The role of the Good Return Solomon Islands Program Coordinator is to provide coordination and implementation support for projects that fall under Good Return’s core program areas (primarily CAFE initiative, RIF Academy and Impact Investment). In doing so the Solomon Islands Program Coordinator will coordinate with Good Return team members (particularly technical specialists) to build partner agencies’ internal capacity in these core programs.

The Solomon Islands Program Coordinator has scope to identify new projects and partnerships. This may include scoping visits, needs assessments, due diligence assessments, as well as stakeholder and donor engagement. Project proposals and project design documents will be developed by the Solomon Islands Program Coordinator in collaboration with the Pacific Regional Manager, the Social Inclusion & Development FSO and other Program Team staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Note: The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) outlined below are provided as a guide. Specific quarterly targets (objectives and key results or OKRs) are to be negotiated with supervisor.

1. Project Development (40%)

  • Conduct scoping visits and needs assessments to determine project and partnership opportunities that align with Good Return’s mission, vision, values and strategy.
  • Promote Good Return’s three core programs (CAFE initiative, RIF Academy and Impact Investment) in collaboration with the Program Team among potential partners in Solomon Islands, and conduct the due diligence and MoU/contract processes to create partnerships with support from Good Return team members.
  • Lead small-scale pilot projects that can demonstrate ‘proof of concept’.
  • Work alongside Pacific Regional Manager and other Program Team members to strategically engage funding sources, prepare project proposals and project design documents, as per the Good Return Program Manual.

Key Performance Indicators:

  1. Coordinate 2 learning events or field visits per year promoting CAFE, RIF Academy or Impact Investment for potential partners.
  2. Contribute substantially to the development of two new project proposals in Solomon Islands per year.
  3. Contribute substantially to the establishment of 2 new partnerships for CAFE or RIF Academy per year, based on the existing licensing/pricing structure.
  4. Contribute to Min. AUD$50,000 raised in new program funds.

2. Project coordination & support activities for CAFE, RIF Academy, and Impact Investment (60%)

  • Coordinate and support needs assessments and field research activities.
  • Coordinate and support project implementation (e.g. training of trainers, project delivery).
  • Coordinate and support field level monitoring and evaluation activities in coordination with Pacific Regional Manager and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Specialist.
  • Support the capacity building of partner organisation staff.
  • Coordinate and support stakeholder management (e.g. partner reporting, donor reporting, meetings to brief stakeholders on project progress/outcomes).
  • Coordinate regular project level reporting with support of Pacific Regional Manager.
  • Implementation of the Good Return Program Manual.
  • Welcome visitors to Solomon Islands (e.g. arrange itinerary, meet & greet).
  • Provide ad hoc logistic support for visa applications and local travel and accommodation requirements of Good Return team members.

Key Performance Indicators:

  1. Evidence of improvement in the capacity of partner organisation staff.
  2. On time reporting of project performance.
  3. Compliance with the Program Manual.
  4. Proactive and timely coordination support to project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities, including stakeholder engagement and support, field travel scheduling and translation support. 
  5. Staff & visitors report high satisfaction with local coordination of visits.

Qualifications

  • Solomon Islands national, fluent in Pijin.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • 3+ years’ experience working/volunteering in community development and/or training sector.
  • University level diploma or degree in business, finance, education or related field.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft package (Word, Excel), email, calendar, Skype.
  • Highly organised with a proactive and positive approach.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Solomon Islands, including remote locations as required.
  • A passion and personal commitment to working towards a world free of absolute poverty.
