Job Description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our Newcastle, ON office. Working with the close-knit team at this busy office you will have the opportunity to take on as much responsibility as you can handle and take your career to next level by demonstrating integrity and commitment to our clients and the success of the firm as you apply your in-depth knowledge of tax and assurance to deliver exceptional service to clients.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out work related to accounting, income tax and bookkeeping engagements in a variety of businesses.

  • Build working relationships with clients and respond effectively to client requests

  • Identify new business opportunities with existing clients

  • Maintain our accounting, assurance, quality control and ethical standards

  • Prepare corporate tax returns

  • Prepare personal tax returns

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in a public accounting firm 

  • Professional designation preferred (CPA; CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; CPA, CMA)

  • Experience with CaseWare/CaseView an asset

  • Experience with Profile and JazzIT an asset

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

  • Ability to prioritize workloads and flexibility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and communications skills

  • Strong focus and high standards in teamwork, client service and professionalism
