Job Description

Prepare food according to diet standards, therapeutic needs, recipes and food production requirements.  Ensure all food is cooked and presented in an attractive and palliative way.  Perform food production work efficiently, while monitoring a neat and sanitary work area.  Ensure portion control of all items.   Ensure temperature of all food items is per food safety standards and is recorded per policy and procedure.  Promptly report malfunctioning equipment by following proper tag out procedures..  Ensures a clean, orderly, and efficient kitchen when working.  Assist in training and orientating of new personal.  Act as the subject matter expert in the culinary department / kitchen- may oversee and train others engaged in food preparation activities.   As needed, assist in dining room.   Follow policy and procedures and guidelines for food safety.  Ability to modify a recipe to meet the needs of restricted diets or numbers to be served.   Maintain an accurate stock count / stock control.  Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Language / Communication Skills o Ability to read, write, speak, listen and understand the English language. o Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. o Ability to effectively present and communicate information and respond to questions.  Reasoning Ability o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Computer Skills o Computer proficiency with software programs and the ability to learn new computer technology and programs.   Mathematical Skills o Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  Psychology  o Basic knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
