Job Description

Start Date: June 2023
Duration: 2 years (Renewable)
Location: India (initial remote work, base location to be determined)

The Human Resources Lead will be a key member of the India team, effectively contributing to its success, human resources management and operational efficiency of the organization as it builds GDI India. In this new position, the ideal candidate will plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, trainings, initiatives, and surveys to support GDI India’s human resource compliance and strategy needs. Specifically, this position will administer or oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, talent identification and recruitment, compensation, benefits, and leave; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. In addition, this candidate will establish and assist GDI incubated initiatives with setting up their human resources functions. The person is expected to ensure GDI India’s alignment with GDI regional entities.

Responsibilities

Human Resources Strategy & Global Coordination with GDI Regional Entities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Develop a robust talent pool/ pipeline for GDI India and help to build pipeline and recruit talent for GDI initiatives in India, whether GDI led or others (such as Migrant Resilient Collaborative, Global Opportunity for Youth Network, Leapfrog to Value etc...)
  • Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with the Country’s local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, compensation packages in similar fields and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends and champion improvements related to human resources management in the organization.
  • Develop and implement talent development and culture building budget.
  • Collaborate with other HR regional leads on crosscutting HR/talent activities and tools.

Talent Management for GDI India and Incubated Initiatives

  • Administer the payroll and benefits programs.
  • Develop and execute a talent acquisition/recruitment strategy for GDI India, which includes creating best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Lead recruitment, interviews, and onboarding of staff into the organization.
  • Develop and implement performance evaluation processes.
  • Conduct a skills assessment within the organization, identify skills gaps among current staff and provide recommendations on how to address the gaps identified.
  • Coordinate/facilitate professional development and training activities for staff.
  • Develop and champion a mentorship program within GDI.
  • Lead and champion staff wellbeing policies and strategies, which include but are not limited to leave management, data gathering, staff engagement, measuring results, listening to feedback and enhancing GDI policies and practices.
  • Create and implement offboarding procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Human Resources or Business-related course from an accredited institution. Master’s degree in human resources will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years working experience in a human resource management and administration role
  • Have a thorough understanding of the India Labour Laws and ensure compliance.
  • Knowledge of and experience with HR management tools such as employee engagement surveys, professional development training, performance management, job evaluation & grading and reward management.
  • Proven network with organizations including that with foundations, non profits, government entities will be a definite advantage.

Additional Information

Compensation: The salary range for this position is 40-45 lacs INR.
