Innovation Director
- Full-time
Company Description
About Leapfrog to Value There’s a hospital construction boom underway across South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. This infrastructure growth isn’t necessarily a good sign. It reflects a volume-based approach to healthcare that we know does not work. It’s a model that emphasizes treatment in hospitals rather than prevention in communities, and rewards providers for delivering more services instead of quality or outcomes. Adhering to this development path will lead to long-lasting structural flaws which increase costs without delivering commensurate results.
We have a narrow window to chart a different trajectory and leapfrog to a value-based approach to health system development. In partnership with the Gates Foundation, USAID, and the Rockefeller Foundation, L2V published a landmark report that offers a strategy for health systems transformation. We are now taking action on the report’s recommendations, 1) establishing an ecosystem for value-based innovation, 2) developing digital health strategies to enable health systems transformation, and 3) steering investments toward value-based business models

Additional Information
About Global Development Incubator The Global Development Incubator (GDI) is a non-profit that builds startups and partnerships to address some of the world's toughest global development challenges. We play a mix of the strategist and implementer role to get game-changing ideas off the ground over 24-36 months. Throughout each stage of our process, we bring together the right partners across sectors—including corporations, nonprofits, governments, and foundations—to help new initiatives scale their impact and prepare for long-term success. Above all, we turn talk into action by matching ambitious leaders, strong concepts, and funding with the executional power required to launch and scale large-scale social change efforts.
GDI has shaped over 35 social impact initiatives, including designing, building, launching, and exiting several entirely new initiatives that now stand as independent organizations. By bringing our strengths to the passion of our partners we have built the first investor platform for blended finance in Convergence; put global mental health on the map through citiesRISE, guided the startup strategy and operations of the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery, and empowered a new generation of qualified leaders to serve in African government positions through Emerging Public Leaders—just to name a few of the initiatives we are proud of. GDI has received funding from a mix of private, public, and philanthropic organizations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Omidyar Network, USAID, and Johnson & Johnson.
