Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
To consider all pertinent information about each project and decide how much it would cost to meet the client's needs, bidding for the work against competitors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Overseeing projects to ensure costs remain in line with forecasts
Compiling bids for work
Calculating the cost of materials, transport, labour, and equipment hire
Obtaining quotes for all predicted requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers
Collating detailed price lists of everything needed on each construction project
Clarifying the client's needs and expectations
Assessing and adhering to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements
Keeping up to date with inflation, exchange rates and projected timescale costs
Liaising with others including Construction Managers, Planners, and Design Managers
Presenting bids to clients and answering their questions
Completing work quality submissions
Preparing and submitting quotations for work
To work to the Company’s quality standards and performance criteria
Co-operate on matters of health and safety and follow the training provided, always taking reasonable care of personal and other people’s health and safety
Any other duties consistent with the role of Estimator as may be required from time to time
Qualifications
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Experience of working on Industrial/Logistics projects would be advantageous
A degree in Estimating or similar, or attending university to achieve this
Ambition and drive
Self-motivation and pro-activity
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Good organisational skills
The ability to meet strict deadlines
Good negotiation skills
The ability to work on your own initiative
Ability to drive would be beneficial
