About our Real Assets team

G+T’s Real Assets team advises on some of the largest and most significant real estate and real asset transactions in the Australian market, acting for leading institutional investors, private capital sponsors, developers, asset managers and major corporates.

Our Real Estate practice advises across the full property lifecycle, with expertise spanning acquisitions and disposals, major property portfolios, real estate and infrastructure development, corporate leasing and complex property transactions. As part of our broader Real Assets offering, the team works closely with specialists across M&A, finance, funds, construction, planning and environment, tax and regulation to deliver integrated advice on complex, high-value investments.

Our work spans a diverse range of sectors and asset classes, including commercial property, logistics and industrial, hospitality, living and accommodation, agribusiness, energy and infrastructure.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced real estate lawyer to join our team, working closely with Amanda Hempel, Partner and Head of G+T’s Real Estate group.

Amanda has broad and extensive experience across real estate and infrastructure development, acquisitions and disposals and corporate leasing, with particular expertise in complex property portfolios. Her practice also encompasses the energy, rural and agribusiness sectors.

You will work closely with Amanda and the broader Real Assets team on significant and complex transactions and development matters across a diverse range of asset classes and industries. The role provides exposure to major acquisitions and disposals, development projects, portfolio transactions, corporate leasing and transactions involving infrastructure, energy, hospitality and other operational real assets.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Advising on acquisitions and disposals of commercial, industrial and other real assets, including large-scale property portfolios
• Advising on real estate and infrastructure development projects and associated transaction structures
• Preparing and negotiating agreements for lease, leases and other complex property documentation
• Advising major corporate occupiers on strategic and high-value leasing arrangements
• Advising on the property aspects of broader corporate and infrastructure transactions
• Advising on transactions across sectors including energy and renewables, hospitality, logistics, rural and agribusiness, and other operational real assets

About you

You are a skilled lawyer with two or more years’ post-qualified experience in real estate and property or a related transactional area. You bring sound judgment, a proactive mindset and a focus on delivering high-quality legal and commercial outcomes.

In addition, you will have:

• Proven drafting, analytical and transaction management skills
• Experience advising on complex property transactions, development projects and/or leasing matters
• A practical and client-focused approach to solving problems
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team
• The ability to manage deadlines and competing demands effectively
• Commercial judgment and an interest in understanding the broader drivers behind clients’ transactions
• An interest in contributing to both exceptional client outcomes and the continued growth of the Real Assets practice
