About the role
We are seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Melbourne Disputes and Investigations team on a six-month fixed-term contract.
In this role, you will provide high-level support to a Partner and a number of Lawyers. You'll be part of a busy, close-knit and growing team working on complex, high-profile litigation and regulatory matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing documents and files across multiple matters
- Preparing court documents in all jurisdictions
- Compiling and managing briefs to counsel
- Liaising with clients, counsel and external parties
- Managing e-filing processes and court portals
- Overseeing diary and email management
- Assisting with monthly billing and account reconciliation
- Handling digital dictation (limited)
- Coordinating travel, flights and accommodation
About you
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in a legal environment is preferred. Law students wanting to gain experience in a law firm are welcome to apply.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive approach and sound judgment
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
