Job Description

Giant Pictures & Drafthouse Films is looking for a New York-based Content Acquisitions Manager for its digital film distribution business. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing company at the intersection of movies and streaming. The person in this role will focus on working with content owners and representatives, being responsible for sourcing and closing content licensing deals at scale according to annual P&L budgets. Direct previous experience in a film or TV content acquisitions role is required. Candidates must be comfortable with a significant domestic and international travel schedule, as well as working in a start-up environment where multitasking and working on a high volume of projects and client correspondence will be necessary.

Responsibilities:

    • Acquire and release upwards of 40 titles per year across multiple content verticals and business ‘tracks’. Meet P&L budget targets
    • Quickly filter, analyze and respond appropriately to a high volume of inbound inquiries, leads and client correspondence, being goal-oriented in stakeholder interactions and deal-making. Develop and use FAQ's, checklists and templated correspondence paths and documents to faciliatte client communication at scale
    • Develop relationships with indie film and TV suppliers (own network, partner referrals, repeat clients, agencies), present and promote Giant’s distribution and business model, close deals and onboards
    • Help content owners to achieve their distribution and marketing goals, advise on streaming platform landscape, retailer best practices, windowing, exclusivity issues and creative marketing assets
    • ‘Power user’ of company’s CRM systems, responsible for improving and optimizing these systems both for communication with internal teams and deal tracking. Create and circulate weekly progress reports for colleagues and senior management
    • Financial reporting & data: run P&L’s and financial forecasts. Use internal and external data to acquire more relevant content and meet / exceed revenue targets
    • Assist with the company’s growth into adjacent and new business areas, such as OTT FAST channels and apps and distribution across new verticals

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of direct previous experience in a film or TV content acquisitions role is required and candidates must be comfortable with a significant domestic and international travel schedule
  • High level of productivity and attention to detail, with impeccable follow-through. Ability to work autonomously while regularly reporting upwards
  • Demonstrate good judgment, calm under pressure, synthesis/resolution of multiple strands, ability to direct and work with cross-functional colleagues to pull together in the same direction and achieve results
  • Strong knowledge of video content windowing, price points, exclusivity, metadata and video content monetization models
  • Facility with numbers, quantitative analysis and data. Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets (P&L’s, pivot tables, financial forecasts)
  • Experience using CRM and rights management systems
  • Passion for film and digital media with the ability to successfully engage with, inspire and motivate a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • BA/BS or graduate degree required

Additional Information

Compensation:  $50,000 - $75,000 per year based on experience.
