Job Description
- Carry out electrical installation, cable laying, glanding, termination and dressing activities for power, lighting, control and instrumentation-related electrical systems.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical equipment including motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, distribution boards, control panels, lighting systems and electrical accessories.
- Perform installation and maintenance of cable trays, conduits, junction boxes, local control stations, isolators, sockets, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, termination drawings and equipment layouts.
- Carry out cable continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth continuity and other electrical tests using appropriate testing equipment.
- Assist with testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment, including motors, switchboards, MCCs, transformers, lighting and power distribution systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance activities and identify electrical faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic methods.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control systems, motors and distribution equipment and rectify faults safely and efficiently.
- Carry out electrical termination, crimping, ferruling, lugging and cable identification in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
- Install and maintain electrical earthing and bonding systems, including equipment earthing and associated connections.
- Ensure electrical installations are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, specifications and project requirements.
- Work on hazardous-area electrical equipment and installations in accordance with applicable Oil & Gas requirements and hazardous-area procedures.
- Inspect electrical materials, tools and equipment before use and report any defective or unsafe items.
- Coordinate with Electrical Supervisors, Engineers and other disciplines to complete installation, maintenance and commissioning activities as scheduled.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure work areas are kept clean and safe at all times.
- Follow Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical isolation and other site safety procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE and comply with company HSE policies, risk assessments, toolbox talks and safe working practices.
- Report unsafe conditions, electrical hazards, equipment defects and incidents to the responsible supervisor.
- Complete work records, inspection checklists, test reports and maintenance documentation as required.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, EPC, Construction or Industrial Maintenance sector.
- Experience in electrical installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning of industrial electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with LV electrical systems and preferably exposure to MV systems.
- Knowledge of electrical motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, distribution boards, lighting systems, cable systems and earthing.
- Experience in cable glanding, termination, jointing, cable pulling and installation of cable trays and conduits.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, SLDs, wiring diagrams and cable schedules.
- Knowledge of electrical testing instruments such as insulation resistance testers, multimeters, continuity testers and clamp meters.
- Knowledge of relevant electrical standards, safe working practices and Oil & Gas electrical requirements.
