Job Description
- Supervise and coordinate HVAC installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Lead and monitor HVAC technicians, mechanics, ducting technicians, pipe fitters, helpers, and subcontractor personnel.
- Review approved IFC drawings, shop drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and work schedules before commencing activities.
- Plan and allocate manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and resources to ensure timely completion of assigned work.
- Ensure proper installation, alignment, insulation, supports, vibration isolators, dampers, grilles, diffusers, and other HVAC accessories.
- Monitor daily work progress and ensure activities are completed in accordance with approved schedules and project requirements.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers, electrical supervisors, civil teams, instrumentation personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and other disciplines to avoid work conflicts and delays.
- Conduct routine site inspections to verify workmanship, installation quality, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Procedures, and project requirements.
- Identify technical issues, material shortages, design conflicts, and site constraints and report them to the responsible engineer or project management team.
- Coordinate HVAC testing and commissioning activities, including pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, air balancing, water balancing, functional testing, and performance verification.
- Verify that HVAC systems are properly tested and operational before handover.
- Ensure inspection requests, checklists, test reports, and relevant quality documentation are completed and submitted as required.
- Maintain daily manpower reports, work progress reports, equipment utilization records, and site activity reports.
- Monitor material usage and minimize wastage, rework, and unnecessary consumption.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safe storage of materials, tools, and equipment at the worksite.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure that all personnel understand job hazards, control measures, and safe work procedures.
- Enforce compliance with company and client Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements.
- Ensure that required permits, risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and work authorizations are available before starting work.
- Stop unsafe work and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and hazards.
- Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, safety meetings, inspections, and coordination meetings.
- Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, system handover, punch-list clearance, and final project closeout activities.
- Ensure proper maintenance records and equipment history are maintained for operational and maintenance projects.
- Assist in troubleshooting HVAC system failures and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Mechanical Engineer, Project Manager, or Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in HVAC installation, construction, maintenance, testing, commissioning, or operations.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience in oil & gas, industrial, petrochemical, power, commercial, or large-scale construction projects is preferred.
- Experience working under major client specifications and international standards is an advantage.
