Job Description

The ideal candidate will assist with the day-to-day management of IT systems and provide technical support to staff. As a Junior IT Specialist, you will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining network systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of technology within the department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide First-Level Technical Support
    • Act as the initial point of contact for end-users experiencing hardware, software, or network issues.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a timely and professional manner, escalating complex issues when necessary.
  2. Install, Configure, and Maintain IT Equipment
    • Assist in the setup, configuration, and deployment of desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
    • Install and update software applications and system tools to ensure compatibility and security.
  3. Monitor and Maintain IT Systems
    • Support the daily operation of network systems, ensuring stable and secure connectivity.
    • Perform routine maintenance to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks or potential failures.
  4. User Account and Access Management
    • Assist in creating and managing user accounts, email setups, and access rights based on organizational policies.
  5. Support IT Asset Management
    • Track and update inventory of IT hardware and software assets.
    • Ensure proper documentation, tagging, and movement of IT equipment.
  6. Assist in Network and Server Maintenance
    • Collaborate with network and system administrators to maintain server health and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
    • Support basic backup and recovery procedures.
  7. Ensure IT Security Compliance
    • Follow IT security policies during support operations, including password protection, software licensing, and antivirus updates.
    • Report any suspected security incidents or breaches.
  8. Maintain Technical Documentation
    • Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, system configurations, and FAQs to support knowledge sharing.
  9. Support IT Projects and Upgrades
    • Participate in system upgrades, hardware rollouts, and software implementation projects.
    • Assist in testing new tools or technologies as part of ongoing IT improvement efforts.
  10. Deliver End-User Training and Guidance
  • Provide basic training to employees on IT tools, best practices, and new system functionalities.
  • Support new employee onboarding by setting up workstations and providing system orientations.

Qualifications

Education

  • A degree or diploma in Information Technology or a related field

Experience

3 years relevant experience in IT support
