Job Description

Join the General Mills Global Trade team to drive global standard import/export business processes and provide thought leadership to unleash value to the organization.  The Global Trade process supports the seamless flow of cross border products, minimizing landed cost and complying with government regulations to protect General Mills brands.  As we increase our global brand footprint, our ability to deliver and comply with regulations seamlessly will be an asset (e.g. Brexit and Free Trade).  The role will need to facilitate effectively running intersecting business flows – the physical flow of product, the corresponding financial transactions and the supporting trade compliance regulations.

 

This position will be accountable to design and implement global trade import/export standards and practices for movement of General Mills products across the globe in accordance with government rules.  The processes will be developed with all regions to deliver execution speed and cost efficiencies.  The outcome from this role will be a set of Global Trade Service capabilities (Process and Technology) which can be leveraged by all regions.  This role collaborates across the Global Supply Chain, S, corporate functions, segments and global regions

 

Key Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities

•Lead and develop efforts to implement global trade compliance standard process to ensure compliance with government regulations for the following import/export focus areas: Import/Export classification, documentation control, customs entry and free trade agreement process management for the region (Cost, Efficiency & Compliance)

•Develop and manage KPI metrics with Customs Brokers and Forwarders

•Process owner for New Product Development on trade compliance issues, HTS classification and total landed cost to help the company make strategic decisions to minimize duty risk and ensure compliance when importing, exporting, and entering new markets.

•Expand the use and value creation of Global Trade Services process and tools

•Engage with Global teams and external resources to refine process strategy leveraging design and process mapping

•Partner with Sourcing to select brokers/forwarders/cross border partners to minimize cost.

•Develop multi-year roadmaps, sustainability plan, compliance and governance models for global logistics and trade compliance processes

•Actively pursue process and system improvements through feedback and benchmarking, managing improvement opportunities through the governance structure

•Stay informed of the Customs and other agencies’ laws and practices all relevant to General Mills products
