Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform hygiene clinical procedures, including oral prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing, sealants, fluoride, oral cancer screenings and x-rays 

  • Educate patients on the importance of oral hygiene, as well as instructions and demonstrations of effective oral hygiene methods 

  • Communicate with doctor where there are opportunities in patients for restorative and/or periodontal needs 

  • Obtain and review dental history and/or records from patient (review patient health history and care slips) and ensure health history is updated for all returning patients 

Qualifications

  • Degree or certificate in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program and a valid state license  

  • X-Ray/Radiology Certification where state regulations specify 

  • Local Anesthesia/Nitrous Oxide certification where state regulations specify

Working Environment & Physical Requirements  

This is a clinical working environment where potential exposure to hazardous waste and blood-borne pathogens is possible. Requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting, leaning, and bending up to 8 hours a day. Will be required to carry, transport, and use tools and equipment. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
