Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager with day to day operations of the Geislinger manufacturing facility, including quality assurance, component manufacturing, product assembly and service. He/She ensures workforce resources are adequate to meet Geislinger production schedule. The Production Supervisor manages the activities of production personnel including workflow, manufacturing and assembly methods, and work force utilization. He/She is responsible for facilitating the production plan set by the production planner.

  • Follow all safety and environmental rules and ensure adherence by others
  • Assist in developing and updating safety programs
  • Ensure safety training is up to date for all employees in the department
  • Monitor area of responsibility for safety issues and ensure safety reporting and investigations are completed in a timely manner
  • Oversee team leaders and direct reports, provide support and guidance for team leaders
  •  Provide direction and initiate training to production employees to ensure they grow with the company
  • Conduct regular feedback meetings with direct reports (1-on-1s, performance evaluations, etc.) Monitor performance, attendance, productivity of teams and direct reports
  • Ensure short-term to midterm production schedules are followed to meet delivery dates
  • Coordinate ship dates with customer demand
  • Work with and provide backup to production planning to ensure and maintain accurate data (SAP B1 and JobPack)
  • Ensure data from shop floor data collection system is accurate
  • Monitor and report regularily on production capacity and manpower requirements
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repair tasks
  • Report on breakdowns and downtime
  • Assist in effectively troubleshooting production processes and equipment
  • Demonstrate pro-active approach to develop and implement production related improvement projects
  • Approve and purchase shop consumables in the absence of the Production Manager
  • Ensure that all operators follow the procedures and work instructions of the quality management system
  • Perform and monitor deviation reporting for out of print parts and schedule associated rework in a timely manner
  • Perform and participate in corrective action processes and root cause analysis to continually improve product quality and processes
  • Independently develop and update procedures and work instructions 
  • Active involvement in improving the quality system
  • Train new and existing staff, evaluate skills of direct reports and teams
  • Develop training plans and improvement plans for direct reports, and ensure execution of these plans. Assist in developing operator training materials
  • Coordinate activities with other departments
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree in Business Management preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with entire team
  • Required to sit or stand and move about the facility
  • Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.
  • Required to use safety glasses while performing specific tasks or while in specific areas of the plant
  • Combination of office and plant environment
  • Exposed to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable
  • Will be required to drive and travel on company business
